Dota 2 - Steam

I really want to play this game but getting hold of a key seems to be difficult.

Does anyone know if the website http://www.dota2beta.net/ is genuine? It does look dodgy and it asks you to complete some surveys not related to Steam at all. Apparently a key is given to you afterwards.

Anyone used it?
 
It screams dodgy as soon as you say surveys.

I've got a spare account with DotA2 on it and I left my team I mentioned earlier in this thread which I'd got it for. If any active member of OCUK wants to play on it then let me know. (Must be 21+ and be an active member)

Haha yeah, I remember asking first when someone said they had a key. But they made another thread for a give away :(

If It has been given away already and we have missed out, would you be so kind to announce it on the forum. (Just so I dont have to keep looking & Pressing F5 all the time while I am at work, not doing anything because of it haha)
 
Friend got me a key this weekend and am absolutely loving this game!

Windrunner/Lina are probably my best at the moment. Melee characters really suffer early game and I often end up being farmed by the range.

Would love to be able to play Jugg well though, omnislash is craaaazy.

Anyone got any tips/tricks for playing melee?
 
Been put off this game/moba's for life.

The community is disgusting, been told to "die and burn in hell" on my first real game...absolutely disgusting.

Was interesting for a while playing the coop bot games, but when the community demands that you're a expert player just to have a game with no insults being thrown, nah I'll just gloss over this game.

Sorry, I know theres people who still haven't been able to play the beta and if I could I'd pass my beta key to one of you guys.

Is there not a way to get rid of the chat window so you cant see the abuse you get, I normally just go over skype with my mates ha-ha
 
I think the problem with this game is, if you have played a similar game in the past then there is no learning curve as you know exactly how the game works.

It means there is no easy entry point for new players, as nearly everyone playing knows the mechanics inside and out.

So anyone who has little experience of moba's/this is their first moba will have a hard time from players when they come to play a match versus human players.

If Valve had added some new mechanics to the game, perhaps there would be plenty of players learning how the game works and then perhaps people would be a bit more understanding when a particular player is letting the team down.
 
Ok guys, give me an hour. I am not giving away this extra account, it is being lent out to the regulars in this thread. If someone gets too greedy then I'll just change the pass and that person will have lost out.

I may have 1/2 more accounts within the hour so we can get a full team going. Bare with me.

This game might be more appealing to me when it is actually released, if Valve add some ranking system to the game that puts you against players of similar skill level...like starcraft 2.

If they fail to do that then I will not be touching the game again.

The problem isn't with the Noobs being against the vets. It's the fact that pub play is terrible in this genre.

So what, you are loaning people the account? you set the password and just change it when you think they are hogging the game. Is that a steam account?

I am having a games night with my brother and a mate lol I just bought a new screen but I havent told them about it =p a nice little suprize to my build ha-ha bro is going to be jelous like =p

That's about it. I'd rather have it that I can loan it out to people while they play with me but I don't mind them using it when I'm not on.
 
And how would you monitor people using it? for example I am using the account you are on about. Someone else who has the password then tries to log it. Would that kick me out? or say that this account is already in use?

Is there a loan for say, Like a week to people who have busy lives and cant always play it.

Do you change the passwords to summit different every time u loan it out
