Virgin Media new STM today

So if I am on 50Mbps (going to 100Mbps) I will have a daytime cap of 20Gb and an evening cap of 10Gb?

I can live with that.

i also can live with that ,caps until 21:00 ,i am still working at that time, cap on file sharing until 00:00,i miss it all again, but i do see the 10:00 to 15:00 caps

I was a little miffed at first, considering at the moment my 50mb connection has no limits. However, I re-read and I can live with being restricted from 100mb to 50mb.

I mean 30 Meg reduce by 75% would be 22.5 Meg but now 30 Meg reduce by 50% will be lots worse off reduced to 15 Meg. I think my maths is correct ?

No thats not correct. 75% of 30MB is about 7.5MB. The 50% works out a lot better as you will only go down to 15MB. Essentially, you are getting double your capped rate back with the new STM.

So from reading the VM site this is per day? by jingo! So a 10000MB cap daily on say XL60 just for things like p2p?

Thanks for the info, getting XL 60 on Wednesday.

on 50mb and been doubled to 100mb and if i use too much it just slows me back to 50mb so im perfectly happy with that.

The allowances have always been daily. Its not just for p2p, its for everything though (any download or upload performed).

Not per day, it's for the times shown. So 10000MB limit between 10-3. Then 5000MB between 4-9. Unlimited (subject to their fair useage policy) for the other times.

Wow! and there was me always worried about going over.

So if iplayer and iTunes etc don't count towards it, is it the same for Steam? That would be my biggest allowance "hit", say a Summer or Xmas sale.
