Text speak on OCUK

It's not a rule - but if you do so, people on here will enforce it anyway.

So help you if you misspell 'brought' when you really 'bought' something... I'm still not over the abuse to be honest... But to be fair, I now spell it right everywhere, so thanks OcUK :p

I don't think it needs a rule, more just a rule of thumb. If someone has spent less time typing a post than I'll have to spend reading it, then I ignore it. If someone has poor spelling or grammar then I'll consider them to be hard of thinking and be less likely to give any credit to what they say. I find it works well.

You should use correct English anyway, not only to to show everyone you can speak correctly, but it also ensures you keep up practise. Otherwise you will end up years down the line with poor spelling.

Saying that I am not one that goes around pointing out and correcting others spelling mistakes, not really my job to do so.

It not a hard rule no, but it is potentially something that can come under the broad principles approach to moderating the team has. Namely, 'don't be a total douche'.

Personally, I'm rarely offended by the occational bad spelling mistake, slang or bad grammar.

Hi

Is there any rule about posting in text speak and slang on here?

It drives me insane :(

"Is there a rule.." or "Are there any rules..."

Don't complain about peoples posting grammar/punctuation/spelling if you clearly fail at it yourself.
