No meat today

Castiel, I didn't say that religion hasn't effected morality, I in fact stated that it has had a great effect on morality. I'm not denying this. My point remains that morality can develop without religion.

Unfortunately it's difficult to give an example of morality developing without religion because it would be consistently argued that any encounters with religion, whether they be long or short, could have effected your morality, therefore making all the results invalid. I think it's fair to say that very very very few people in the world have never encountered religion.

Bit can it develop without religion, you don't have to be religious to be moral....that is true, but what influences individual morality?

Can you prove or illustrate that morality has developed without religion in any human civilisation or tribe......anywhere?

Well there is at least one animal we know 100% is religious. Why would it be such a shock that other species may be?

Aside from the lack of any evidence supporting religion outside of the human race, do you really need me to tell you the difference between us and the rest of the animal kingdom?

So it would be moral to kill humans for food.....:p

I don't think animals are religious, religion is a manifestation of our spirituality and I feel is a human social construct, but whether animals are spiritual or not is something else......given that many religions and belief systems attribute spiritual forms to animals it is worth consideration.

You make an interesting point dude. Because religion is potentially a human social construct, as you put it, which, it can be argued, comes from the lack of understanding of the world before humans really began to consider science, animals would probably need some sort of scientific interest to generate religion...it's unlikely that they do tbh!

, do you really need me to tell you the difference between us and the rest of the animal kingdom?

yes please. As far as I can tell there's pretty much zero difference.
The old resonings are well, old and unfounded.

We've seen communication, self-awareness, intelegence, problem solving, tools

About the only difference I can think off the top of my head is ability to retain information or writing. Which of course most animals don't have dexterity needed.

But don't forget that I made the point that religion is potentially a manifestation of our innate spirituality.....it doesn't require science, neither does morality.

There very well may be ultimately a scientific explanation why we manifest constructs and concepts in the way that we do, there may be a scientific explanation for everything, but science requires evidence, I have yet to see you produce any to support your claim.

Have you never seen a chicken in a turban?
