What sort of height/range is usual?

I think normal fpv is around 2km, thought it completely depends how much you want to spend and where you live.
The record is 20km ( with very experienced team and a lot of expensive equipment) and that was over mountainous land. My quadcopter would be limited by battery and not range and it's the same with most people with FPV, it's usually the battery that limits it.
2km is plenty though for most people and those who want to go for very long range are pretty mental.
Edit: Some team claim 36km.
