Hey gang,
So since moving into my new flat in January, the neighbour and I have had the odd skirmish. It started a couple of weeks into my tenancy when he lost his **** at me for making a wee bit of noise. It's a period conversion house and so sound travels really easily. He pulled me aside, made a few veiled threats and, being in the wrong, I put my hands up, apologised profusely and told him I'd be much more mindful in the future.
Anyhow, on Friday night I had a few mates over and we were having a few drinks before going out. We left the house around 11.30pm and as I was locking the door he came out and totally lost his ****. He was shouting at me, screaming, slamming the door, yelling all kinds of obscenity. I tried to reason with him, said it was a bank holiday, we were on our way out and that we hadn't made much noise at all - there was no music playing and the TV was off.
Now, this guy has totally cemented himself as a grade A lunatic. I haven't once complained about the fact that he wakes me up every morning between 3-4AM getting ready for work, banging pans about in his kitchen etc. I haven't complained either about the fact that every time I leave my flat the stink of weed coming out of his flat is overpowering, or about the fact that every time he blazes up he stinks out my flat through the shared ventilation system.
He's as paranoid by the green as they come, he has loads of CCTV cameras wired up across the place (even has one in his car) and, from where I am standing, is a total *******. My guess is that he will shout, scream, yell and basically act like an overgrown child because he can't phone the police. He's mid to late 30s and works as a bouncer.
On Saturday morning I had a load of my mates that had seen him fly off the handle say that I should inform the police of his weird behaviour - or the council - neither of which I'm really up for doing. I live here, I don't want things to get worse and I definitely don't need the added stress and aggravation of a full-blown turf war with the guy who lives opposite me. But I feel like I'm now running out of options and the fact that it is now stressing me out in my place of residence is the point at which I have to do something. I just have no idea what.
Any suggestions as to how to handle this?
Cheers!
