I'm going to use my younger brother as a subject for an experiment. He is 14 and when sitting at the dinner table he will demand extra salt be added to whatever he is eating and I am 99% certain that it's all in his head because he's too used to adding salt to other foods like chips/fried goods etc and it's now become a habit.

I want to replace the salt pot with fake salt for a week or so and see if it really is in his head because the meals we have when we do sit at the table are generously salted anyway and the amount he adds is not in moderation so isn't at all healthy.

I've looked for fake salt online but it's not really easy finding a substitute!

Sugar? :/

Basically a placebo "salt", if that makes sense. LoSalt is still salt. I want to prove that it's just psychological.

He's 14, he's not in the position to demand anything, just have a go at him and don't allow him the extra salt.

Oh this is my last option having already had a go at him countless times. I've also tried mocking him! The next stage would be wrestling him to the ground, but I'm a bit old for that kind of stuff now :p

wait until its snowy and steal aload of grit from a truck. Looks completely different, but tastes the same. (bit more crunchy)
