Naval War Arctic Circle

Yeah I've been following this since it was announced, it looks amazing. This genre is horribly under-represented. In fact I can only think of two other titles in the last decade; Fleet Command which I thought was awful, and Harpoon which I never played because I'm not paying ~£50 for a game that looks like Windows 3.1 and has no demo available.

Just to say this is only 15 quid at release so why not! Well worth the admission to sink American carriers with a squadron of Backfires.

I believe there is now a Harpoon Demo, although I agree £50 for something that looks like W3.1 isn't great I've had probably months in total of enjoyment from it.

Ah cool, thanks, I might try Harpoon after all then. I love this:

You will see that this version stresses accuracy and depth over eye candy

Uh, yeah, I did notice... :D

Still one of the best games I have played and with the power of modern PCs the battles you have are quite ridiculous eg the whole US fleet vs the rest of the world's navies and it still runs ok.

It is brilliant Harpoon, Naval War AC looks good though for £15 I'll probably pre-order although I've been burned by stuff Paradox have published before.

They always put things right though, to be fair. I think Paradox are one of the best publishers and developers in the business.

After seeing this I decided to dig out my old copy of Jane's Fleet Command. Does anybody know how to get it to work on Windows 7 64-bit? IT installs, but it just will not run.

Looks interesting..

Lots of strategy games look unappealing to many, but they usually give the most satisfaction and certainly longevity in game-play, when played correctly...
