Guild Wars 2

This is the only time I can justifying pre-purchasing a game. I trust the Guild Wars team, I've put in over 800 hours into Guild Wars, and I still have plenty left to do. The game had a great story that I felt drawn into, I loved the simple way it forced you to have 8 skills and to optimise around those 8 skills. I think the game, while obviously dated, still looks pretty good. Not to mention the constant stream of updates.

If they can carry some of that positive over, then well, I can't see me playing any other MMO. Of course, I'm still skeptical as I am with all MMO launches, but I'm willing to take the risk based on their previous track record.

Especially compared with Tera who asked for a prepurchase and who are they? While the game looks lovely, I can't put my faith in an unknown developer who sat on the game 'localising' it for more than a year.

Hopefully my code will be sent tomorrow.

It works, wouldn't surprise me if it didn't work for the next beta though.

I was always a PvPer in GW and the things that made it special were the limited skillset you had to decide on (which is still there for GW2) and the pre-made PvP characters (which is still there for GW2). The open world nature of the game is better than instanced IMO so that's only an improvement.

I didn't realise you had severe visual impairment. Because you have to be either blind or stupid to not see these things.
 
How did you guys even get the download client? I just prepurchased but I can't find anywhere to get the download client from. Also a little unhappy with the prospect of having to chose my player name. It suggested it will actually be used in game? I kinda like making different char names so I'm presuming we are going to end up with a character name and an account name both being visible in the game?

started reading the thread. Guess we will get emailed the client when they want us to have it.

No such luck.

Just confirmation of order and it's been moved to dispatch. "No contract has been made until the order has been processed by dispatch"
