Guild Wars 2

I didn't realise you had severe visual impairment. Because you have to be either blind or stupid to not see these things.

No need to be offensive :) I've seen a LOT of people say it's a totally different game, I've not seen anyone say how though. The big factors seem the same, the way skills work, the way PvP works etc. Obviously a lot's going to change, the open world making it a different game from the PvE side, but that doesn't make the whole game totally different. It can still feel the same, play the same and have the same basics with that one change.

I never really got on with the instanced nature of GW1, it just felt like a single player game to me.

Yeah, it's very much like that now. Back when more people played it, it was a totally different experience. There were always groups for everything. Originally the henchment weren't even in the game because they just weren't needed. They only came after the first expansion IIRC.

How did you guys even get the download client? I just prepurchased but I can't find anywhere to get the download client from. Also a little unhappy with the prospect of having to chose my player name. It suggested it will actually be used in game? I kinda like making different char names so I'm presuming we are going to end up with a character name and an account name both being visible in the game?

:EDIT:

started reading the thread. Guess we will get emailed the client when they want us to have it.

The way friends' lists etc worked in the first one was that someone added to your friends was account wide so you could see them on any char and vice versa. I'd guess it's just for that kinda thing (in the first one it was just the char added, there was no overall name, so it got confusing when people made new chars etc). I doubt they'll force all your chars to have the same name or for you to just have one char.

In GW1 Heroes were added with the expansions (Nightfall).

In the early days, while Henchmen were always present most people tended to group with other people. The AI and control of the Henchmen was pretty limited.

Heroes did change things. Customizable skill bars and movement control.

I've seen on facebook that they haven't even got the codes yet, they should be arriving tomorrow.

So they might start dispatching them to us tomorrow and we'll get them by friday or somthing.

Are there not going to be any disc versions of this game? I've been playing GW1 since day-1 and have been looking forward to GW2 since the first rumours of it being in the making, but downloading 25GB is going to be a severe problem for a hell of a lot of people.

The beta client is 12GB. It's not that big a deal these days IMO.

I bought my copy direct from arena net today, £50, but I would rather the money went strait to the developer than to somebody else. I dont think a 25GB download would bother me, our Internet is not capped between 11pm and 9am so I'll just do it overnight :D

GW2 Login Video Settings for anyone who might be interested. Nice to see Windowed Maximized there!

Click image below for full Login Page. None and FXAA are the only AA options available at the moment, in the GUI anyway. All other options set to maximum GUI option visible as of now.

I really want to order this game, but I'm not sure I can spare the £50 until a little later in the month. Other things to buy, that unfortunately I have to put first. Makes me so sad that I've followed the game so closely, and I can't even order it on the first day. :(

£39.99 on Play which is about the same price as the states, standard pre-purchase, ordered two.

I find 40 quid a good price for what you getting in Guild Wars 2, no monthly fee.

I don't have a problem with the price, just the timing. But thanks, I will take a look at Play when I come to order later in the month. :)

For those who have played it is it anything like GW1 or is it more like SWTOR and WoW?, just never could get on with the original GW, but interested in this

And sorry if this was asked/answered a few pages back

More like swtor/wow but also nothing like it, hard to explain.

They are trying to change how things are done, not like how many devs say they've revolutionised combat/mechanics but inevitably end up doing exactly the same as everyone else. They've definitely looked at the affect things have on an individual scale and worked from there.
