So far I've counted one actual dentist posting in this thread and one Rangers fan who apparently bases his toothpaste choice on the colour the stripes come out of the tube, which is adorable :)

People don't want fluoride because of its adverse affects on the brain... How much the content in toothpaste will affect you I don't know. I'm not stating this as fact as I have not done any research into the subject what so ever. I just know it is the reason people do not want fluoride in their toothpaste.

What adverse affects on the brain?

Fluoride effects on the brain? The last dentist I went to told me not to swill all the paste out of my mouth to help the fluoride work. :/

I use very little toothpaste normally anyway, I find not eating a lot of sweet things, quitting smoking, and drinking plenty of green tea and water have helped immensely.

If i'm stressed and my immune system is taking a battering I will sometimes develop nasty breath, so it goes to show that your own natural immune system is the best defence against oral hygiene issues, often the mechanical action of brushing your teeth alone is enough to remove most of the bad stuff anyway, silver bullets like gunking your mouth with great gobs of flouride enhanced cleaning products can end up doing more harm than good by masking symptoms of some underlying cause.

I brush twice daily without fail just for the record.
