Guild Wars 2

really in two minds about getting this

I've been burnt so many times with preoders; AOC, Warhammer, SWTOR being the main three.

Do I chance it...

Know exactly what you mean.....I got really hyped for Star Wars, but it was such a let down from a MMO perspective, but after following GW2 for sometime now, really feel this will be a game worth having.

Just put in my Pre-purchase for the Standard Edition on Play.

£40 is a bargain tbh.

I remember buying GW1 from Play, for £17 and thinking Holy Poo-doo, I can play online for free. It really opened my eyes to MMO's.

SWTOR is disappointing me tbh, trying to give it as much love as possible, but I doubt I'll re-sub after my sub ends. Hopefully by then GW2 will be out, or I'll still be hammering Diablo 3 :D

I think it just depends on what ArenaNet/NCSoft have agreed with retailers. In Europe and America there are shops selling physical copies, you can buy and get your code and box right away. Here there doesn't seem to be anything. Then again maybe they didn't want to risk it with GAME/Gamestation. They still can't get the product up on Amazon though.
Yeah I think the GAME situation has really thrown a spanner in the works.
Having said that HMV was originally on the list of available retailers for pre-purchase but was removed on April 5th. I'm hoping it's just a case of both sides needing more time to arrange the logistics/distribution of it all but I could well end up disappointed I fear.

Still no word on a Zavvi dispatch, it's still saying the 18th of May. I'm hoping that's an error/placeholder as I'm sure there'll be beta events before then I don't particularly want to miss out just because I wanted to pay ArenaNet/NCSoft more money.

I've still got an account with you from when I was planning to play SW:ToR with you guys but I just never really got into it.
Are you planning on moving over to GW2 primarily or will your player base likely stick with ToR?

Likewise (ofc), will no doubt catch up with you in the GW2 Beta once HMV get there arses in gear!

I don't think many will stick with swtor, just cant see that game recovering.

Okay, signed up to that site. I will have a proper look later at it.

Great its a bit quieter now what with most people just playing the waiting the game.

My order was dispatched at 12:10 apparently.

dispathed? what are u guys on about? the game has no release date therefore it is impossible to dispatch a physical copy of the game

Pre-purchases are boxes with codes in. You get the box and then throw it at your cat* because it's useless. No CD, no game, just the code.. put it in online and bazinga.

*Don't.

Are you suggesting my cat is useless? I have two, so you need to be clearer which one. Wilbur is recovering from a blunt force trauma to the head but is far from useless.

aint that a freaking waste of trees? if all your interested is a code, cant they just email you it?

Apps like Windows 7 and photoshop email you cd key, not no stupid empty box with a code on it lol.

Sry for being dumb but what are region locked logins?

The way I understand it is that with the EU version of the game you have to log in from the EU, but then can connect to EU or NA servers. If you have the NA version you have to log in from NA but can connect to EU or NA servers once logged in.

Is my copy of Guild Wars 2 tied to my region?

Yes. To play from North America you must purchase a North American copy of the game. To play from Europe you must purchase a European copy of the game. Note that this restriction impacts where you can play from, not which game worlds you can choose to play on.

By purchasing the correct copy of the game, you're supporting the game in your country, and you'll be connecting to your local data center, using your local customer support team, and downloading the correct language support for your country.

Here are some answers and clarifications for you! First, if you purchase the game from https://buy.guildwars2.com/ you'll automatically be sorted into the right region.

And don't worry -- we want you to play with your friends wherever you are. This policy only affects where you can login from -- not which worlds you can access. People from NA will be able to play with people from EU at launch. We've got two datacenters -- one in NA and one in EU. Those who do not fall into either of those two regions will default to the NA datacenter.

Finally, we are aware that a lot of our players travel, and we are looking into a solution for you.

So if I buy my brother a copy here in the UK, he can login in his home country, France?
