Legend of Grimrock - Dungeon Master Fan's !

I've just hit level 3 - can someone tell me (in a spoiler if necessary) what levels I will encounter spiders on? You know, so when I jump out of my chair I don't also break my neck.

I wasn't sure this would be my sort of game, however I was intrigued after TotalBiscuit's 'WTF is?...' and Rock Paper Shotgun's recommendation. I'm so glad I took a chance on it. This game is really good! :)

Last I remember, I'd just come across a room with teleporters going anti-clockwise around an open trap door. Going to play some more of this over the weekend :D

*sigh* 5hrs 30minutes in, level 6, and I think I'm gonna have to restart.

It's the damned earth magic and all the points I wasted in it!

13 points to get the poison shield. Okay, it's not a bad spell, but I can manage without it - and let's be fair, earth magic is so easily the weakest school that I now feel those points are pretty much completely wasted.

Looking like skill points are going to be pretty hard to come by, and now feeling my mage is gimped beyond repair :(

Oh well... should be a bit quicker now I know all the puzzle solutions (?)

Note to everyone: avoid earth magic. It sucks!

Next mage will start with 4 in ice, 3 in spellcraft (skilled trait), then 8 points in spellcraft, then ice to frost bolts, then air to lightning bolt/invisibility...

I am not pleased how gimped one spell school is, but it's also probably a testament to the game in that they are very, very few games I could be bothered starting again from 5 1/2 hours in to repair a poor skill choice.

Kind of half regretting going down the earth magic route but poison shield is pretty good plus I was using the poison shot on the ogre and the fire enemies, was able to hit 66 damage a few times, this is on level 6. So not bad.

Yeah, I suppose it's not completely useless, but... too many immune enemies, and damage is less than half what I'm seeing with air/fire.

And whilst poison shield does have some utility, tbh most of the time I get through poisoning fights forgetting to use it. The only time it arguably saved my bacon
was the spider ambush on level 6.

So, just not enough value for those 13 precious, hard to come by skill points. Too dissatisfied with this build to continue with it now.

Can some explain the relationship with skulls and minotaurs please, and what if anything do I do with them, has he a secret "pouch" I need to shove them up ?

In other news, my human is a weakling and dies every time he sees a spider, ive spent the morning running back and forth from a spider to the big blue wobbly reincarnation thing, party of feebles FTL :P

Sure i read on here that rogues can attack from the back row, what do i need for them to do this? I have a dagger mino in the back row. 2 human fighters in the front and an insect ice mage at the back. Only had a chance to create the party and get out the first room so far! Need to make some time to play.

Assassination rank 12 gives reach

The only thing that is slightly lacking in this for me is the amount of loot around. Its quite minimal to say the least.
