The HL2 series is easily my favourite single-player PC experience. Even though I'm waiting like everyone else for EP3/HL3 I'm just glad it ended with EP2 and not 1, as they're night and day in my eyes. EP2 brought it back on track, made you learn new tactics and approaches to playing the game and put it all together in such an interesting and clever way.
I agree it has been a while to close the game off, I'd love to see the game closed off... but at the same time all the other games link in good portal has played a good part to it i like how it will be brought into it in possibly the next game id rather have the game closed off by keeping to its roots rather than fans moan for a close tomorrow and then its a quick job and the games over with and pointless. only part that done my head in a bit was the using the sticky bombs on the stryders
Hm, I thought they only featured in the original HL2, like I said above I thoroughly enjoyed Antlion levels. Will definitely reinstall Episode2 once I sort out my PC's overheating. Probably will download some saves so I don't have to play through the whole driving section all over again.

Having said that Half Life and it's expansions itself was more of a better game than 2. The weapons in 1 actually felt meaty to use, and there were so many superb set pieces and memorable moments. It's shocking how many people have played HL2 only and assume it to be the best in the series without even playing the first.

blasphemy!Agreed, have spoken to many players like that and then they are suprised portal ties in with HL.

First time through they were epic but I didn't like replaying them as much compared to the rest of the game. Think its because it always felt a little stop/start when you rode for a bit then had to bail to go search a cache or a house or remove some obstruction (or blast those damn sticky mines into the ocean).
I've played through it 3.5 times and still enjoyed them, the last time I couldn't be bothered going any further when I got to Nova Prospekt.
That's with the CM11 mod, I've just installed it myself and started going through the game again with it.
I'm not sure if it's just me, but have the game mechanics altered a fair bit with the CM11 mod? I'm playing it in hard mode and if you're not careful, you die really quickly
