Guild Wars 2

Just cancelled with play and went with greenmangaming, now I remembered why I stopped using play in the first place..

Just been watching a Yogscast video on the WvWvW. It looks brilliant and that was the actual game, they did relatively little screwing about. Lewis walked through how it works, defending keeps, siege weapons etc. :)

The video's here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pk06sCaB0l4&feature=BFa&list=PL2EE83973FE2CC4F2&lf=plpp_play_all

I really can't wait for this game now. Hopefully the beta starts soon. I think I'm going to go engineer or mesmer for the beta then I'll go ranger in live.

I just cancelled my play order and went with greenmangaming for pre purchase.
With the discount code BRING-ALLUR-GUILD you pay £44.96 plus if you go via quidco you also get 8% off so its bringing it close to the play price.

Also you get the code instantly and can register it on the guild wars 2 site so you are all set to go.

I was going to wait but seeing the greenman 10% as well as quidco 8% offers I couldn't resist!

If this game turns out like warhammer did then I'll not be a happy man. (warhammer was the last 'big' mmo I got really excited about and I was so so so disappointed after the first few weeks I could've cried)

It depends why you didnt like it, warhammer had a lot of problems, mainly because it wasnt finished and was pushed out the door because of EA, the fact GW2 isnt funded by the devil should be a massive plus..

still not sure about purchasing it yet. I beta tested one weekend, but I'm not sure if I can really be bothered to slog it to max level in a new mmo. I really like the world vs world concept, Im just not sure i want to put the hours in to get there.

I think WAR's main problem was that it was almost exactly the same as WoW. When there's already an established game with lots of content and millions of players that's had the bugs already ironed out, why play something else?

I also found out it ran out of content quickly which seems to be a common problem with new MMOs. Plenty are released before there's full content to max level, it's never a good thing when the first people reaching high levels are telling the world that there's no content.

Everywhere I've seen has said that GW2 has been pretty polished since early press betas, it's had a few bugs but they seem like they're being ironed out. Watching some "play with the devs" type videos, every time a bug has been pointed out, the dev has asked "what happened?" rather than dismissing it with "yeah, it's still early beta" which seems a good sign.

You can join PvP at lvl1 and have full skills and equal armour. :) As soon as you enter a PvP area you're boosted to max level, given all the skills and armour etc so it's even.

Edit: Actually not sure about WvWvW after watching a video. You definitely get bolstered because the guy had like 18k hp at lvl2, but he didn't have all his skills and was using the same armour as when he was in PvE beforehand. It definitely says that you get given the gear and levels for PvP on that page though so it might've been a video of early beta or something.

In organised PvP, I.e arena's you get all skills, the best armour, weapons etc. to make it an even and fair fight. However in WvW you get some sort of bolstering so people of all levels can play, but you use the same skills and weapons that you had before you entered the WvW therefore higher levels do have a bit of an advantage, but its not such a large advantage that they can go alone against 5 lower level characters and win..

I have no idea why they haven't put more info about WvW on their website seeing as it could be one of the main reasons that most people play the game.. I'm guessing they are still testing it therefore don't want to put any info out there that becomes incorrect should there be changes before launch..
