Ebay/Paypal seller issue

I lost £80 because seller claimed the item was "fake" with no real proof or anything. PayPal didnt even bother with my side and took the money out and he kept the item, and I got bad feedback..

contact the police about fraud, and if paypal take the money or chase you for it, take them to small claims court.

Paypal/ Ebay are a complete joke for legit sellers, i used to sell on Ebay but i stopped when i seen constant reports of buyers conning sellers.

Nonsense, compared to the amount of transactions these occasions are few and far between, you only ever hear when something goes wrong though.

I'm speaking from experience, 2000+ sale transactions in the last 18 months and only 2 problems, both of which were caused by Royal Mail, not ebay or a dodgy buyer.

Well after speaking to the bank, they said.... they cannot block it, all I can do is raise a dispute with the bank after paypal have taken it.

So fun times ahead I am sure.

Im still in agreement with the above.
You have proof the item was sent, and delivered, with the parcel details and weight
on, yet the buyer is claiming an empty parcel, after claiming not as described!?!?

Are paypal stupid?
I'd phoen them once more and kick off royally until the issue is resolved, if they can't resolve the issue there and then I'd goto bank and empty account, get the card and all direct debits cancelled in anywhich way you can.

not really looking like paypal are wanting to help at all tbh

http://www.ukauctionhelp.co.uk/ppchargeback.php - Might be a bit out of date but follow that, I went straight to the Financial Ombudsman when I had a problem which neither PayPal nor NatWest wanted to help with when I was scammed. FO ruled in my favour and PayPal were forced to refund me the money that they had put on hold on my account.

Best of luck with it, as long as you have the evidence you should be fine, will just take some time.

and the anonymous email saying thanks for free gear?

BTW depending on how devious the person is and the email system used it often has the originating IP in the full header of the email - should you escalate the dispute the police would potentially be able to link that IP to whoever sent it (tho if they used a mobile network, TOR, etc. it might not be so easy).

Surely if you have proof of weight shipped and can also provide the sarky email saying thanks for free item when Paypal retreieve the money from your Cc just do a chargeback?

Either that or call your bank and advise them to decline any payments to paypal?

Until its sorted I woudl ensure you get everything written

Nope - paypal are that evil... It happened to me twice!

I haven't used paypal to accept payments in years because of it... sellers have absolutely 0 protection with paypal :(

did you check buyers feedback etc?

This kind of stuff makes me paranoid.

I don't need the stress, i'm about to sell my old iphone 4 on ebay... and i'm just like hmmmmm

Just don't accept PayPal, or do collection only. If not, Friday-Ad/Recycle? :)

Yeah tempting to say no paypal or local pickup only. But then that massively limits potential buyers. However..... I think I can't not do paypal cause my feedback is too low? it's like 20 but everything i've sold has been gleamingly positive feedback.

Im gonna bet ebay say you're only allowed to accept paypal until some rediculously high level of feedback.

All I know is phones in general attract shady scumbags and I don't want to deal with a headache like ops

PayPal follow a predetermined script, it's difficult if not impossible to get them to deviate away from this hence common sense goes out the window.

Even if you could remove the bank details from your account etc, you will still not be in the clear. PayPal won't just let it lie, they will call in the debt via debt collectors.

This is theft and a case for the police, it's beyond PayPal now.
