How many miles does your car do to £20

What a completely pointless comparison :/

Pointless to you - interesting for me

So you want me to take my mpg around town (22) and divide it by 4.54 to find out how many miles per litre that is (4.84). Then take the £20 and work out that it buys 14.19 litres of Super Unleaded @ 1.409 meaning that for £20 I get 69 miles per £20 I put in.

Isn't it easier to just quote mpg

Surely you dont only put £20 in every time or something?

No but I know solidly how many miles my car will do to £20, I do not know solidly my mpg as it currently stands apart from reading the trip gauge, which on my car doesn't seem all that reliable, so no, not easier for me to just quote mpg because it would take me quite a while to use a full tank of fuel with how close I am to everything I need.

Unless you are completely oblivious to how much fuel £20 buys you, if you know one then by default you know the other - they are directly connected

Though i'm not sure how solidly you can know what £20 gets you, given it probably changes on a weekly basis

So you basically want everyone, instead of posting their MPG, to post their MPG multiplied by how many gallons they get for £20? :p

You're not buying diesel for £1.409 a litre though surely?
Good point!!

It's more like £1.499
I only have to fill up once a month roughly so had forgotten that :D

£20 = 13.34 Litres @ £1.499

13.34 / 4.54 = 2.94

2.94 gallons * 66 mpg = 194 Miles

Even given how much the price fuel varies between filling stations and between the same stations on a monthly basis?

Do you only put 20 quid in each time?

Do you have to be so pedantic regarding every detail, it was just for a rough comparison between cars, not everything has to be accounted for to the penny or minutest decimal point - just wanted a rough idea.

I notice that's the second time you've asked that question about the £20 so it must be bothering you, no, I just fill up as and when required.

as above, just for a rough comparison, over the course of a few weeks it will only be a few pence difference so overall its only gonna be a very small mileage difference over the £20 useage.

It was just a straight forward question. If everyone calculates their own, it takes a few minutes for everyone, If everyone posts their mpg and I want to work it out and I would have to do it for every single individual post taking much longer.

The only thing I know is that my average over the last 500 - 600 miles is 25.7 m.p.g.

This is what my OBC tells me. I really do not know how much I pay for fuel, when I need fuel I put some in.

£20 worth of fuel could take me 20 miles or 200 miles.

£20 total spend though would take me nowhere near that distance, tyres are about £250 a corner, insurance is £400 a year, servicing about £300 -£400 a year, tax £260, M.O.T. etc.

It all adds up - so probably £20 gets me about 5 miles.

Porsche Boxster S.

Road Trip tells me for my last fill-up it cost me £0.109/mi on the previous trip. That's 60.13MPG at £1.437/L for diesel. I drive a SEAT Ibiza 1.9 TDI 100PS. (I get the feeling it's going to be a lot more the next time I fill up as I've been doing some "spirited" driving and the cheapest I've seen diesel is £1.469 :()

Anywho, that works out as 183.5 miles to £20.

I usually get 300 miles to a full tank of 50 litres.

Skint this week so been using £20 fillups....I managed to squeeze out 115 miles but I think I might have had more left in the tank when I filled up.

Roughly 100 miles to £20.
