Asus RT-N56U - WAN disconnect problem

I have it working fine with the Superhub. I have the Superhub set to Modem only mode on 192.168.100.1. The R56 is set to 192.168.0.1 in router mode. I regulary have 10+ devices connected wirelessly/wired and have had no problems. Have only ever restarted it to update firmware.

The wireless range is impressive too.

I just got the issue as per the OP :( Everytime it would get WAN for about 10 seconds then display the error. I tried everything (new firmware, disable NAT, factory reset etc), now back on Superhub temporary until rainforest send me a new one.

Annoyed as I notice now how much better the throughput of the N56U is vs the Superhub and the wireless range.

Are you using the default Asus firmware? I think it's junk personally if you buy an Asus router you're best off using a 3rd party firmware tbh. :(

It's a ton of bug fixes and additions for the original firmware, not technically a thirdparty one.
I run the Google Projects firmware on my RT-N56U and it's been absolutely bullet proofsince day 1, this is with the BT FTTC modem. There are so many fixes and improvements it's worth trying.

Does this work with Windows as it doesn,t state that anywhere or i,m missing something ,it mentioned Linux stated here :

Project news:
Finally! The new release of firmware version 1.1.1.8e-b2 is ready.
It is based on Linux kernel from wive-rtnl project, trunc 2.3.3,
which has many backports from later versions of kernel.

The router runs Linux. The PC operating system is irrelevant.

I've been recommended to this, any chance of a screenshot or two?

Also (sorry for the hijack), how does one reserve ip addresses based on mac addresses on this router?

It looks exactly the same as the stock firmware.

To get to mac address reservation, go to Advanced, Lan, DHCP Server. It's the section titled "Manually Assigned IP around the DHCP List"
