I wasn't being totally serious, I always look to see what they have on offer

If it was breaded, I would simply go elsewhere/choose something else if that isn't possible.

Battered... But it's been a while since I've lived near to a decent enough chippy that any 'fish' you get from it doesn't taste purely of batter...

Battered, but it has to be crispy batter not soggy like most of the chippies in my area. Otherwise its breaded from the freezer.

Actually I've always found when you ask for a "special" you get a larger fish than with a Standard order hence the term special!

At my local if you ask for the 'special' fish, you get the regular thing, with a small bag of white powder seasoning.
