...in 30 days? I'll be training about 4 times a week (mixture of cardio and resistance) and just want to cut and maintain what little muscle I have. I'm just after a rough list of foods that would be ok to eat during this 30 day period. Saying that, is it even worth trying or is the time frame too short to see results?

To lose weight you need to be in calorie deficit - you could eat a cheeseburger a day and lose weight if that's all you're having (not advised).

I think you probably know which foods to eat - lean meats, vegetables, complex carbs etc but without knowing quantities it's a pretty irrelevant list...

Easy to read and say. So difficult to do though with discipline.

I find best tip is no eating after 19:00. Period. Does not matter what you have done, how far you ran, what you did in the gym, what mega-route you did on your road bike. After 19:00 no eating. Lose tons of weight if you can stick to it.

lol.

but kirkster, I eat a big meal at 8pm and I'm not fat :p
It's hard to say what result you'll get, do it too fast and you'll lose muscle. If you're already quite lean and just want to strip that last bit of fat then it's possible to make a difference in a month. Steedie would be the best person to advise on dieting.

I'm serious..... Try it. I had been struggling with weight for years and lost four stone following this rule. Only exceptions are eating out which I do very infrequently.

But there's no reason for it. You lose weight by being in a calorie deficit. You could eat 1 big meal at 10pm right before bed and so long as it's under your maintenance calories you will lose weight.

Perhaps, kirkster, part of your weight issue was caused by overeating late at night, and imposing this food curfew on yourself was a way to tackle it? The rule would have worked for me when I was at my biggest simply because my habit was to binge eat out of boredom in the evening. It was common for me to eat 2000+ calories of food in the evening.

Skillmister and Volcs are right though, at a basic level it doesn't matter when or what you eat, so long as you are in calorie deficit. It would be better for you in the long term to make it a balanced diet, though technically you could eat cheeseburgers for breakfast, lunch and dinner and still lose weight.

Agreed as i stop eating at 6:30pm and have lost a good bit of weight doing it this way aswell as cutting down my portions during the day.

I've heard the best way to lose weight is to eat only 500cals and spray yourself in the face with a pregnant ladies urine. Works a treat ;).

Should probably be helpful :). Try some of theses maybe:
chicken
brown rice
spinach
broccoli
lean mince
fish
sweet potatoes

Well basically as has been said, lean meats, low GI foods, complex carbs and a **** tonne of veg (all the colours of the rainbow preferably).

:p

You loose weight being in a calorie deficit, that's pretty much it. If not eating past 19:00 means you have a strict meal time and plan your meals, you are a lot more likely to eat 500 cals of good food as apposed to 1000cals of rubbish!

The idea only works because people just eat less rubbish food due to having a time plan to stick to, not because your body cant handle food past a certain time. We aren't gremlins!

ive heard the best way to lose weight is to stop eating after 2pm in the afternoon....

/ sarcasm / can anyone who is going on about not eating after a certain time please explain the theory behind how this works (because its a load of nonsense)

It's not a load of nonsense, it's just that people are misunderstanding it.
Nobody is saying that food suddenly contains 3 times as many calories after 7pm, it's just another routine people get into to help reduce the total number of calories they eat per day.
