Guild Wars 2

bhavv I've only been discussing here in this thread for a few days and I can already see that trying to present a reasoned, rational debate to you is a hopeless task. You're about as fanatical in your faith about GW as that fella in your signature was about a certain other type of questionable ideology. It's tiresome, please give it a rest.

Having played the vanilla PvP system to rank14 and the first 3 seasons of the Arena system, I can see WoW's PvP merits. It doesn't do esports style balanced play as well as GW1, but then again that's not what it is aiming for really. Battlegrounds offer an experience and a style of competition that are far different (and to some people, far more fun). You'll never listen to that, though. You seem to have staked some of your personal pride and ego on proving that GW1 is the 'worthiest' of MMO's, and the most 'skill demanding'. It's worrying that you seemingly have so much of your character (or at least your forum persona) invested in this gambit.

Don't bother with bhaav he's everything that's wrong with modern mmo players. Tinpot crazy and a fanatic who screams his own point of view at the top of his lungs then covers his ears do he can't hear the replies.

His motto is;

Thou shall hear no evil about Guild wars
Thou shall speak no evil about guild wars
Thou shall think no evil about guild wars

Break that code and bhavv will hate you.

I stopped trying to reason with him long ago, just take what he says with a mine full of salt and you will get along fine.

So your real complaint is that the game has a subscription model? OK then, let's have a 3 page debate about your thriftiness. Great argument

Subscription model, grind, gear dependency, more grind, unequal PVP, skill doesnt matter only the amount of time spent grinding does.

etc.

Indeed, he hates Blizzard and likes to bang on about how evil they are at every possible opportunity. :p

He knows virtually nothing about World of Warcraft.

And its always going to be worse than GW1 / GW2 PVP.

What you are failing to realise is that your definitions of the modifiers 'better' and 'worse' are subjective; it's relative to the subject's position and attitude. Some people find it better to have an even playing field and esports-type balance. Other people find it more fun and engaging to have a treadmill where the hardcore players are rewarded accordingly. It's a computer game - it's there to entertain people. You're talking about one thing being 'better' or 'worse' than the other as if you have a mathematical or logical certainty. Stop talking arse, fella.

Skill does matter in the game though, what do you know about it? It's ironic because earlier on you were telling me that my opinions on GW are worthless, even though I have played it extensively as well as WoW. Here you are making grand edicts about WoW but you haven't played it extensively, at all.

Shall I perhaps quote your earlier post back at you? You are the worst kind of debater: one with absolutely zero ability for self-reflection.

He knows virtually nothing about World of Warcraft.

While you know virtually nothing about GW / GW2 or any game other than WoW :D

And this thread isnt about WoW is it? Do you see me posting in the WoW thread at all? No you dont.

I played WoW and it wasnt even worth the purchase cost to me, let alone the initial subscription that I ended up cancelling. Such an easy peasy kiddie game with hardly any challenge, and excessively overpriced.

Could say the same thing about your posts and the complete inaccuracy of them, or at least the only one post recently made by you:

I do like being able to log in and participate from the off but then everyone wonders why the games are dross and are easy to play because people refuse to team up (or don't have to team up) so the gameplay is made easier to accomadate this.

So thats why GW1 was harder than WoW when I played both?

Please tell me how easy you found completing HM DoA, UW and Duncan in GW1 without teaming up with anyone else, I'm dying to know!

Or how easy was thunderhead keep for you 7 years ago with henchmen when the game first released?

Being able to play a game with or without any other players does not correlate in any way to difficulty.

Indeed, he hates Blizzard and likes to bang on about how evil they are at every possible opportunity. :p

Actually I do know something positive about Blizzard ... all the cool developers left them to found Arenanet and then made GW1 / GW2 :)

OMG just stop with this and talk about something a little more positive eh.

So what's everyone rolling first - me I am going Elementalist again - love setting people on fire.

I don't know if you guys know but there are several UK sites (including pc gamer and rps) converging on one server, Desolation.
Perhaps ocuk would want to form their guild on this server as the sever population may be more UK based.

Ive played pretty much every decent MMO to date and GW2 will be a decent game. it might not be for everyone but it will be successful just like GW1

Can I ask you if you've done 40-man Vanilla Naxx? Attained rank10+ in PvP? No? Well then why are you trying to discredit someone for not having done all of GW's early achievements? You're talking about WoW when you know you lack the intensive end-game experience to properly qualify you. Although of course you won't acknowledge this because it unseats the possibility of your darling franchise being the most 'skillful' game to play. Go lookup 'cognitive dissonance' in a psychology textbook and get back to me.

I never claimed that games which lack teaming are easy and dross.

However the amount of time I spent playing WoW was clearly to me a lot easier than any mission in prophecies was.

In WoW you have to spend ages grinding just to get to anything slightly challenging or enjoyable right? All the fun stuff is only at the end game when you've reached max level because there surely wasnt anything other than 'kill 10 wolves' quests for me back when I played it for the first 30-40 levels or so.

You're talking about WoW when you know you lack the intensive end-game experience to properly qualify you.

Which is exactly my point, the entire game up to the end game is boring, easy, challengeless grind. Why would I waste money paying fees just to have to grind through that just to be able to get to something that might be worth playing?

Can I ask you if you've done 40-man Vanilla Naxx?

Really? 40 people? So if I did do that and simply leeched it while the other 39 won, then I could claim to be a skillful WoW pro because I won the hardest content! What a horrible mechanic, 40 man raids, ewwww.

**** me, is this ****ing contest still going on?

Only think you guys are doing is alienating anyone from ever playing the game or in any Guilds you guys belong too.

It's ok to discuss the merits & downfalls of a game, but ffs guys, what is it with the e-peen??

Very true I came into this thread looking for people to maybe join and decided against on this snapshot. I am the first to admit I am a complete and utter **** but the general **** **** **** ********* **** shown in this thread is rather shocking.

WoW is a great game, if it wasn't, people wouldn't play it. Let's face it, all the big issues people have with it (the grind, minor imbalances etc) are minor niggles. The game it's self is great, there's plenty of interesting content, it can be challenging or easy depending on how you play it etc.

I'm sure people will be able to say the same thing about some aspects of GW2, but I for one think it will be a brilliant game and can't wait for my first try at it tomorrow.

I don't think either game will be comparable really, it's like comparing BF3 and MW3, they're both FPS games but that's where the similarity ends.

More nonsense. Just accept that your opinions (silly as they are) are just that - opinions.

I've just read some of the whining between bhavv and various other people. A mod should come in here and clean it up to be honest. I want to know more about the game as i'm thinking of buying it, I don't want to see people argue amongst each other and irrelevant ****.
