Feeling HOT HOT HOT

Its nearly 20c hotter than Prime95, have you seen the IB reviews, they all say the temps hit the roof when running it.

As stulid stated, temps go way higher than prime and the stress IBT places on cpus is phenominal.

I guess we could wait for few months and see if next stepping of ivybridge is released and heat issue is sorted to greater extent. Then this cpu might just be able to withstand IBT.

Atleast for now my 65nm Q6600 is laughing at later cpus!! :p (" I may be old and slow cpu but I can withstand greater heat and cpu stress than any of you later cpus") :D

Lol. You know the RMA once thing Intel does if you over volt a chip by accident... reckon if theres a later stepping and I "over volted" by accident Id get a nice shiny new stepping CPU but still have the rest of my warranty? xD

Well i can safely say that i am verrryyy happy with my 3770K
I have to encode a lot of films to play on the PS3 through the network. On my Q6600 this normally took as long as the film is long. So around 2 hours at 30-40 fps.
Now i have just encoded Due Date with the same settings in around 5 minutes! at 380fps. A whole film!! In SD though i have to add... But still!! Now i don't have to bother leaving it on over night or whilst i'm out.

Honestly right now i have no need to overclock although i think i will anyway. But i don't think i'll get very far with a freezer 7 :p

Exactly the same settings

Why do you say thats not possible?

Stulid, I am going to be using a Corsair H80. Does this mean I will likely be able to achieve the clock you have, with the same temps?

ie. 4,5 ghz with a maximum somewhat below 80c?

Thanks

You probably will. Im personally going for high air end cooling since Stulid suggested that closed water loops are just about as good as them.

I got to 4.7ghz with temps under 80c

Will someone make an overclocking thread would be useful to see peoples o/c's and settings.
Also whats a safe max temp and volts for the 3770k?

Yeah that would be good. Also a guide on how to overclock them, I haven't used these UEFI bios boards before and I'm unsure how to overclock them.
