Guild Wars 2

Ah ok. I guess there's 3% quidco too. As I said before though I want as much of my money going direct to Arenanet. I loved GW1 and feel I somehow owe them for the amount of time I spent in that game :)

But you can show support for the game by using the cash store. Theres no need for the initial purchase price to be so much higher than a normal brand new retail game IMO.

If the game only cost £30, you could spend the £20 difference on gems.

I saw on reddit today a piece from one of the developers saying AOE (damage, heals, buffs etc) will only affect 5 targets max - what are peoples thoughts on that?

Well cjs have gone all pi##y with me about my refund saying ive already had it? Ive had no refund or even store credit from them. What a joke.

Bearing in mind I updated the case this morning requesting a refund I have received a note from CJS advising of the refund and from paypal advising the refund has gone through.

I really cannot fault CJS in this and if it does turn out that Anet have let them down then I hope CJS get something out of arbitration. Will watch with interest.

Anet arent to blame, CJS sourced their keys from a 'supplier whose supplier got them from Arenanet'.

One of those suppliers used fraudulent credit cards to get the keys.

Not on really is it buying with stolen credit cards. Our accounts could get banned at any time if they do a random check or anything.

I've put in my dispute and hopefully I'll hear back soon.

People who pre-purchased from Play.com, did you get your codes yet? Was thinking of ordering from them now after this catastrophe with CJS.

Honestly, after everything that's happened, people having trouble getting refunds and ANet actually having accused them of having purchased the codes with stolen credit cards, you can't fault them?

Even without assuming ANet are telling the truth (and I can't see them making an accusation that serious to cover an error, or without proof) I can still see about a dozen areas I could fault them.

Okay I put my Paypal dispute in at 9:49 and at 10:16 they have refunded the amount into my debit card I used to pay with.

So rather than going through their support I went straight to Paypal.

I did get a massive three message response from them in the case. If anyone wants a read I'll post it?

Got my refund through, buying from Arenanet now.

The key from NCsoft is obtained as soon as you've paid too, I dont know if I can activate it yet though.

Well they've given me a store credit refund and then placed a Diablo 3 order... I paid through a different method to paypal. I give up. :p

I dont know why some people dont want to call GW2 an MMO. The term MMO has been around longer than fully free roaming 3D worlds existed.

You also dont have to be a 3D game to be considered an MMO.

One of the first mainstream MMO's ive played was Phantasy Star Online in 2001 and that was basically lots of lobbys which held around 20 people and instances where you played with a group of people.

It seems to me to be an mmo you have to be an online multiplayer game where you can also encounter strangers who you can ask to help you in a world where you can form communities.

The ability to form communities in game is what pretty much makes an MMO seperate from multiplayer games.

I do see FPS games slowly moving towards becoming MMO's but are nowhere near yet. If Call of Duty tacked on a playstation Home type area with ability to trade weapons with other players and thousands of people have access to go to that area then I would call it an MMO.

I am looking forward to playing Firefall (MMOFPS) which is free roaming and looks fun although there is not many choices of MMOFPS games out there.. Hated Global Agenda.

Does anyone know a support number for Arenanet / NCsoft from the UK?

I bought a key from their website for £49.99, but I cant apply it to my account because im in the wrong region even though I put in my UK postcode?

You can contact their support through the net here - I don't know if they're the same, but I remember using the support system for City of Heroes many years ago and they responded pretty quick :)

I have enough ongoing support messages with their email department about this issue, their current 4 day response time with helpless one liner answers isnt very useful.

They arent selling GW2 anymore, it cant be bought on play.

Just but from here, no problems with getting your key then:

https://buy.guildwars2.com/

I think this link looks legit :p

Nah mate, looks dodgy to me!

Ah well, that's good then, as I kinda hate play anyway. I'll just buy from zavvi then as I've got a 10% discount + quidco, and I know they've sent out codes already so it's all good. Now just to get this refund from CJS...

Post it up please mate, interested to see what they have to say!!

Edit:

Update re: refund, I sent in a ticket to CJS requesting a refund (giving them the benefit of the doubt rather than raising a paypal dispute), 3-4 mins later, I received the paypal refund. Can't fault them there tbh. The refund was received with this reply:

CJS said:
A customer support staff member has replied to your support request, with the following response:

Arenanet will be going to court shortly for defamation. Our keys are from legal distributors and are not fraudulent. We will refund you and we will request our distributor to disable your game key so you cannot play the game further.

In the meantime we are contacting arenanet regarding the defamation.

Sorry for this confusion and we do urge you to take our word that these are not fraudulent keys. Arenanet are blaming us for their mistakes and they will definitely be paying for it.

Sorry that you got caught up in this mess. As we do care about our customers we will refund you in full and disable your game key, so you can buy directly from guild wars 2 if you wish..

We would like to inform you that all of our other games are not affected, it is only arenanet who decide to commit libel against us and accuse us of fraud ( which is of course untrue since we only source our keys by legal means).

Thank you!
