OK, so racism is fine unless you're white, then. Racism should either be unnacceptable in any form, or should just be brushed off by all for the ignorance that it really is.

that's not what I'm saying... I'm certainly not condoning racial abuse form anyone but I would argue that minorities have greater leeway socially.

for example some comics make observations based on race - a black comic is free to make observations on his own race and comparisons with say white people and can use both the n word and the word 'cracker' - the act in itself isn't racist but rather about race

a white comedian is also free to use the word cracker but would have to be extremely careful about context when (or even if at all) using the n word

Ethnic minorities my arse blacks are pretty much a majority in London these days and as far as world population goes we are the real ethnic minorities not these third worlders who pop out 10 kids and complain about being poor.

That's cultural relativity at play though, not the freedom of speech. We have never had a freedom of speech enshrined in law or written constitution. That is what people often bemoan here - as if we have ever had one to be taken away!

I believe the mere implementation of new laws and encroachment of a PC society standard is eroding our 'right' to free speech. Not out law-given right, but our right as free thinking individuals.

I can imagine what her thinking was, she has a few drinks and in a loud mood. I am sure all of us has been in that sort of mood, well the ones of us with personalities at least. There is no excuse for such bad language. The occasional one or two especially when you drunk is excusable, but to swear like that in public while you are drunk, i would have told her to shut the **** myself. But obviously would not have called the police on it. But I can imagine her thought process. in the loud sort of mood on the train, looks around to see if there was anyone she could share a bit of banter with. Which i find myself looking for on public transport when i am drunk as well. Only to be surrounded by indians and people from pakistan etc. Who largely from white british perspective have zero personality and most likely have nothing funny or interesting to say. I speak from personal experience here as well. Trying to start up random conversations with strangrs on the train hardly works as planned. Even from white british, probably coming home from 10 hour shift don't want to speak to some drunk rude woman. But i can imagine her thought process, she probably wonders how many even speak english around her. Only to be wind up a little and filmed and told to shut up and told it is not her country etc. Seeks do kind of annoy me with their stupid hats, i had an argument with a seek at work (my boss, before he was my boss) about his stupid hat. but he got realy offended by it. it is just different cultures. That is what we see. british drunk woman trying to communicate with indians and pakistani people that probably never drank in their life, with about as much personality as a ironing board.

I'll lighten the therad a bit by saying my other half jsut gave the baby the car keys to play with while she put somethign else in the car... now the baby is locked in the car! (its not an ethnic minority baby)

Sadly the world doesnt run on your terms or your rules. Whether or not i would say something bad about someone killing my wife or child is neither here or there. true. i think people also need to look at when africans sold their own people to the slave trade. its a very messy area. we shouldnt feel guilty for things that happened hundreds of years ago. the UK gives billions to Africa.

oddly, we were in kenya the other year and our guide was telling us a lot about their history. he says they dont have any issues with us as the english did a lot more for their country than the muslim/arab slavers and even the Portuguese. the english actually put in a lot of their infrastructure. they actually love brits over there. their current government is all black and screwing them over at every opportunity.
