Hi,

For the first time in a long time I fancy getting into a decent PC game, In the past I've enjoyed playing the C&C series, Company of Heroes and Settlers type games.

Has anyone got any recommendations ? I should say my PC is kinda rubbish now being a Core2Duo with a Geforce 8 so rules out games like Anno 2070.

Thanks!

You could try sins of a solar empire, it's my fav' RTS. with epic mod community to boot.
Dawn of war(dark crusade,soulstorm)

other than that, i think you already named the "good" ones

Age of empires is good shout! £30 on steam is a bit more than i wanted to pay :/ Are there cheaper alternatives to Steam ?

Is Rome Total War any good ?

I'll check out Sins of a solar empire

Eh, F steam...go to amazon or something pick up a lot of games on the cheap normally cheaper than most second hand places like CEX/cash convertors... :p

Starcraft 2 as mentioned, great RTS that has years of multiplayer replayability. It's also designed to look reasonably good from very low graphics upwards.

Sins of a Solar Empire. Not only is it the best RTS to come out in years, but it's also very forgiving when it comes to hardware requirements. Hell, it doesn't even need a graphics card.

Hmmm i wouldn't agree with that.

Sins is awesome, but you certainly do need a card, and quite a bit of ram if you wanna play the game with huge teams etc plus the mods are epic.

can still paly 1 on 1's with little req's though

Another vote for Starcraft II and Age of Empires III.

Heard only good things about Sins of a Solar Empire, but I'm yet to try it.

Supreme commander (forged alliance) is epic. The scale of the battles is immense, and I ran it on my E8400 back in the day with a 5770.

pick sins up, it's rather cheap now for the vanilla + expansions, plus the new one is comming out very soon.

if you like RTS/scifi you will adore sins.

both Rome and Medieval2 Total war are Excelent game, just choose your favourite time period :)

Civ IV is very good but not really RTS :P

The original Dawn of War? Not my cup of tea but many of my friends loved it.
