*** The official Sony Xperia S thread ***

Hehe, why not buy a Cadex battery charger too? 60% of the time it works every time. :D Na, the info is solid and found elsewhere.

My point is no-one should worry about any of this stuff. Phones are now good enough to not to worry about squeezing an extra 125mAh out the battery.

I thought I was getting somewhere with this phone, I do love it but still it baffles me.

Just slept for about 11 hours with phone plugged into closed laptop. Alarm set.. Alarm did not go off, yet it said next alarm would go off in 11 hours.. Also woke up to the battery only being 73% full and it appears the phone was off when I woke up.

Confused.

Not having much luck with mine, I got the handset replaced but now I'm getting the same problems on the replacement.

The phone just slows down, becomes unresponsive and reboots.

Very disappointing.

I've still got problems with playback, it cut out for split seconds like it can't cope. I'm pretty sure nothing is really running to cause this.

Happens on any player, if streaming or listening to music on the phone.

I'm thinking of redoing the firmware. When I updated to 0.73, it was unplugged and said it failed but the phone claims its 0.73. I don't know if that would cause problems.

Can I back up my entire phone and update Android/firmware?

Help please!:)
David

I noticed last night (this morning actually) that my phone did not change over to timed battery saver mode whilst connected to the charger.
Perhaps there is a bug/glitch that affects normal phone operation when it is charging.
I will check it again tonight without the phone being connected.

I updated my firmware again, just to make sure it was successful. For a while it seemed fine, music played without a jerk or split second pause.

But it seems I was just lucky as it comes and goes. I don't know if its just me but my live background seems to pause for split second at the same time as the music making me wonder if its the whole phone freezing.

Its only noticeable if something is playing as it makes it feel really disjointed and really grinds at you.

Sometimes I can listen to music fine and other times I get it multiple times per song. :(
Posted on an android forum, maybe i'll get some help, google didn't do me many favours!

Me again..

Has anyone got the yellow tint display problem? I seem to have it now. Apparently Sony is aware of it and will replace the phone free of charge. So I shot off an email to Sony.

Anyone had any experience of this?

I've seen quite a lot of people mention that yellow tint problem, on xda and on Sony's forum. I've not got it myself, and the handset I had before I got it replaced didn't either.

You should be able to get it sorted though, either with Sony or wherever you got the phone from.

Yeah, mines not exactly yellow, but a white area you sometimes see on monitors. I also emailed buymobilephones where I got it. Will see what happens! :)

Are you guys getting a yellow area or is the whole display a yellow tone?

Must admit, mine doesn't have a yellow patch but the screen colour temperature appears cool than say my wifes phone.

Mines not really yellow but a feint white area. Its not noticeable most the time but definitely there. It might be minor but i'm sure it shouldn't be like this.

I'm interested in this phone, especially where I can get it free as an upgrade (plus a lower contract).

My only question is, is this phone better than a HTC Evo 3D?

Phone is awesome.

I got it with three, 500 minutes to anyone, 2000 3to3 minutes, unlimited texts and unlimited internet for 28 quid a month. That was paying off some of my existing contract too so can probably be had even cheaper.

Anyone know when the firmware update will be officially released? Will ICS be worth upgrading to?

Just looking at this as it seems cheaper than the htc one s on contract :D

The only things which put me off are the yellow tint possibility and not having ICS :(

ICS will be coming soon after the 2011 range has been updated, with a few extra goodies :) (presumably June-August) and don't worry about the yellow tint if your getting a new phone.

I'd probably go with the One S (unless you want a sharp screen) or wait for some Xperia P reviews first.

I hadn't really read about the Xperia P, looks like it could be quite nice.

Might be worth waiting I guess, my current contract runs out end of this month and was reading the Xperia P is coming out on 28th
Doubt I'll get it free on £14/mo redemption on release tho. (this is what I'm currently looking at with the xperia s)

Great, calendar problem is back. It doesn't sync properly - despite saying it last synced 2 minutes ago - a lot of recent events aren't showing. Any ideas?

Calendar problem fixed - just took a while to catch up. A much more annoying problem is the cursor. When selecting text or position my cursor, at times, has an absolute fit. It really struggles in OcUK's 'Quick Reply' and 'Advanced Reply' boxes - you select where you want it and it places itself in random places and jumps.
