Asus 7970 DC2

nope, not running anything, tried without monitor drivers, and now with, same thing.
Tried dual link switch, not it, tried single ram stick, not it, tried another pci slot, not it.. god wtf

evga 580 accelero xtreme >> saphire 7850 >> asus 7950 dc2 >> 560 ti DC2 >> 7970 DC2
thats basically the upgrade path. On 580 everything was smooth, i am starting to think 7xxx series has got a problem

Have you done a fresh install since getting the 7970? Might be worth a full nuke from orbit.

I was looking to get this card as well but after hearing so many problems with it i am now looking more at the gigabyte shame because this card looks great and as though it should perform very well. Could asus really have screwed up a card this much or is it just a bad batch a lot of complaints about this version of the card :(.

Can you run Unigine 3.0 in a window and monitor/record the core speed, power etc in MSI afterburner or the ASUS software to see what is happening?

Will try that now, see if it sheds any light onto the matter

I recon whole 7xxx series asus dc2 is bummed. as 7950 had same simpthoms

Yeah AB or TRIXX will work fine.

Knew it had to be something like that, I had the same kind of stuttering every few seconds a while back on an nVidia GPU, spent ages trying to figure out why L4D was stuttering like a mentalist and it was MSI AB's monitoring window that did it.

I'm disappointed in my 7970 DCII too.
Can you overvolt your card? I can't.

Not disapointed anymore mate, right now, i am very happy. £360 for an amazing card which will run games for years to come. Might try using volts, but rather not on air cooling

Thats exactly what caused the phoblem, monitoring window, them graphs i recon. Right now everything is smooth! I LOVE IT! managed to hit 2000 with no extra volts added.

ive never done it before, can i mess things up by doing that? What settings do you want me to try in afterburner? some mild ones please :D

I just want you to download MSI Afterburner the latest one.
Go into settings enable unlock voltage and unlock voltage monitoring, then restart afterburner and do a screenshot.

:p

Here it is, downloaded msi, enabled both options, restarted, not sure what has changed

Go into the options of AB and enable voltage control.

You then need to edit the ini file to enable un-official OC mode (google for info). After all that is done you should be able to try pretty much anything.

Personally, I use Sapphire Trixx, I find it more stable at high clocks.
