They have the monopoly on the digital download though, hence why I believe they've kept their price high.
they're not stopping people from downloading it if they've purchased a boxed copy, every copy is a digital copy once attached to your bnet account.

Basically forcing people into going digital and paying extra for less so that they can play it straight off the bat. I'm guessing people who really want to play it as soon as possible don't want to run the risk of going retail and it turning up mid-day on the 15th.

But then again you could just buy it from some retailer and ask them to open the box and send you the CD-key before it is shipped out, like QM wants.

They're the only people selling a digital copy of the serial, everywhere else is physical copy.

Guild Wars 2 doesn't have a monthly subscription though so it's understandable that they charge a higher price.

They have a cash shop, essentially you're paying for a what would be normal free-to-play game but buying the box too. It's awesome how they've manipulated people into defending labels so they can do this.

If the cash shop sold items that changed the game completely then that would be a problem, most if not all the things in the cash shop are purely aesthetics. It was the same in GW1 and was the 2nd biggest played game after WoW.

I don't see the problem, so many people are moaning about the cost. Yeah it is a little high, but then so was SWTOR at £40 at release with a £9+ a month sub cost.

Damn annoying that it won't even let you install until go-live either.... pre-load currently seems to mean "here's a copy of the installer, you'll run it when you say we can" rather than "here's the installer, get it done so you're hot to log on once we switch the servers on".

Ah well, let the killing commence next week.

You can install the game on the 14th, one day before the release date so you should be fine.
