How much is on your credit card?

BarclayCard - £1700 with 3 months left at 0% - will get hit as no way can afford to pay off that much in 3 months.

Mint - £500 paying around 17% - this was my spend card, I had it down to £0 a few months ago but purchased a holiday recently, dnnated £160 to CF Trust this month and my girlfriends birthday. Hopefully pay it off on next payday, or near enough.

Still trying to sell loads of stuff to try and pay it all off. Once I got debt free I will get rid of them, or at least only have 1 with £0 for emergencies (and to keep the credit rating up)

Nothing, I don't use one.

I ought to do my online purchasing with one though, as I think they have better protection than debit cards. I'm pretty sure you can just be refunded any fraud or lost goods and leave the credit card company to fight their own corner for it. Different rules or something.

I used to use it for online purchases and pay it off in full at the end of every month, but got caught out a few times and got landed with some hefty charges. After that I just cancelled the cards and used my debit card instead.

Credit cards are the most evil thing ever. BEfore I told Mint where to go, they were quite happy to bump my interest rate to nearly 26% and take minimum payment which wouldn't stop you going over your limit.

Paying minimum payment until the debt was cleared would have taken 95 years...

So I got another credit card and am paying £400 a month on that for 16 months..

Up yours Mint!

Approximately 1.5k but I pay mine off in full every month. I only use it as it helps improves one credit rating when used responsibly. And also offers better protection online. The current balance is due to the purchase of another mountain bike of which the money is sat in my account ready to be collected.

Sounds like a rubbish card company!

I can't understand why you wouldn't want a credit card unless you sunbath under your money tree - very useful things.

Don't just pay the minimum then

Think around £2000 but will be paid of end of next month.

Credit Cards are really good when used properly, use mine for petrol to get tesco points & also for big purchases to take advantage of the cover you get.

If you can get the credit limit buying big purchases and balance transferring is much better than getting loans.

Varies month to month as all spending goes on it, then gets payed off by DD on the 1st of the new month.

Simples and I get cashback.

WIN

Indeed, I got my main card when I turned 18 (nearly 11 years ago) and only used it to pay for what I would normally buy and using direct debit.

I find it useful for the money to come out of my account at the same time every month, that way I can plan purchases easier.

Only just got into stoozing in the last 6 months or so, and am now tempted to get another card for it, a bit wary though as 10k debt is a lot to be playing around with.

£0, My credit rating is appalling because I lost a job when I had quite a bit of credit about 5 years ago, it's all paid off now but still shows on my credit history, I have one of those credit cards that is designed to improve your credit rating now to repair the damage I did

ZERO

It is only used for online purchases and the wonga is already saved up front before "bashing the plastic" !!

Only another 3 weeks before I can buy the fascia & adapter for my new AVH3400BT double din radio.

YES it suXxors having to wait but the lessons of the past have been truly learnt well !!

£0.

The wife and credit cards didn't work together very well (spend spend spend but not pay back) so we finally got rid of them about 6 years ago.

Have been thinking one might be useful for credit future and emergencies but wife would somehow justify putting a holiday or Christmas on it.

I'm hammering mine right now for the Avios points, currently just under 100k Avios points in a little over 2 months. Hoping to hit 120k for a return first class flight to New York.

What's the flight going to have cost you in real cash? I hope it's not £1=1point.
