I play at 1080p so 2 gig should be enough . but i play lots of RPG's and heavily mod them so im thinking I would be better going for a 4 gig card or am I just being silly ?

Just being silly. 2GB is enough at 1080p. I mod a lot and runs perfectly on my GPU

basically... a game needs the same amount of VRAM for textures whether it's running at 1080p or 5760x1080... the only difference in VRAM between the 2 is the actual frame buffer

the benches show that at the moment, even BF3 at 5760x1080 runs fine in 2GB... for 1080p I can't see 2GB being a limiting factor in the next 1-2 years

by the time you need 4GB of VRAM there will be bigger better faster cards available so you can just sell your current card and upgrade then rather than pay over the odds for 4GB cards now and then need to upgrade anyway because the GPU doesn't have enough grunt in 2 years time

I was going to make a cheap shot about AMD drivers and cheaper cards with 3GB... but to be honest I've had my fill of Nvidia not sorting the pcie 3.0 on X79 driver issue either

If you like playing your games maxed out, you've chosen well.As long as your monitor is 120hz otherwise 2gb would have sufficed IMHO

So you are saying the 4GB exact same 680 card as the 2GB will make a difference on a 120hz monitor?

If I read that correctly...poppycock.
