New Astra VXR gets 0-62mph time

Looks pretty good. I wonder how cheap these will be going for when they are a couple years old.

Nope.

I always get this impression from Vauxhall.

Hot hatches are going to become suddenly rubbish if they power keeps going up and up like this.

People are going to buy proper sport cars rather than 300bhp FWD hatches aren't they?

Stick to GD.

You've obviously not heard the induction noise which turbos make which isn't all that dissimilar with a jet engine, albeit on a smaller scale.

I like this new Astra. If only for the improved interior. The current one is horrid.

Turbos sound nothing like a jet engine, more like crystal meth addicted hooker slurping Twinings English Breakfast Tea through a straw.

Air being sucked in and blown out tends to have a similar noise ;)

Turns you you can actually make a jet engine from a turbo!

Also.

When it comes on boost, hmmm what does that sound like? :p

It seems to me that all the manufacturers are treating it as a ******* contest. I was quite interested to read that the MK7 GTI will only have a small power increase and will be a lot lighter. In principle, that sounds like a much more appealing car.

Heard some clios on track which sounded like jets, I couldn't work out what caused it - there seemed to be no exhaust noise, just 'jet' noise.

That new astra looks great. I will happily admit I dislike vauxhalls in general, the style, the quality, the drive - nothing about them I like. That one looks the business though, and with acceleration to boot.

I wonder what it's like in the corners, and how it copes with weight transition.

The new HiPer strut (from the Insignia VXR) and mechanical LSD should quell torque steer and make it a good drive. :)
