680 2gig v 680 4 gig

loving it tbh :) getting great scores on heaven and Skyrim and witcher 2 at solid 60fps :)
on EVGA precision test is greyed out ..is that normal ? ids they a way to turn it on ?

Picked them up Sunday, some games better than others.Just trying out Gregsters tips and so far so good,I thought at first I'd gone to far then not far enough as struggling 3D surround. Off work tomorrow so will be pushing these to find out what they can do.well with the help from other forum members as its quite new all this.
Just wish I knew how to post Heaven results so others can advise me more,so all help gratefully recieved. As for the prices, if they're like the 2gig cards they will go up b4 coming down. I hope they do as i might just go for a third as i really want 3D surround at higher fps.sorry for the long post.

Precision X. Click on monitoring and enable OSD for what you wish to monitor.

No probs. Heaven I found to be the most stressful for benching and if you can get a good clock with several passes of heaven bench, this will generally be stable.

So far so good, the settings you gave look to be stable after 3 runs.Only done one card so far will do other tomorrow, it looks promising!
many thanks

Cool. It's good that you are not rushing and better to take your time. Bring both cards to the same amount of OC and then step up in small increments of 7hz on both cards. run heaven, if pass, go again with 7hz.

Can take awhile but worth it :)

OC in Sli, power 132/gpu 135/mem 299, 4 Heaven runs stable played cyrsis max !crash! but improving nicely. Seem to have got better OC on single card, but when configuring sli I lose the OC so testing in sli once stable on crysis max will let you know. FPS defo increase bu 8-11 sogetting there, really appreciate your time.
Which would you say is of more benefit OC GPU clk or MEM clk? thanks in advance

Best stable single card OC was power 132/gpu 151/mem 354.

My Test button is grayed out.
A. This is meant to be used when EVGA OC Scanner is also installed. Selecting the test button will automatically load a 3D stress test.

A 3rd card aint gonna happen. With a bit of luck Gregsters help might get me there if not its less candy. Failing that i'll return the cards and go gtx 670 tri sli,or would that be a backward step? Thanks for the reply

I'm wondering a similar thing myself.
Especially as the KFA2 670s are only 2GB.

Would I be better going Tri-SLI 2GB 670s or SLI 4GB 680s (for the same price) when running 5760*1080?

I wouldn't want to advise you either way as still testing, never mind that i'm new to this so hopefully someone could advise you who's more wise to this, sorry if thats no help!

it depends if you mean for right now or for the next 6-12 months

for right now, 2GB is just about ok even for 3 monitor (according to the benchmarks) however the very next AAA game title to come out might just need 100mb more VRAM and then you would be screwed... so at that resolution I would probably play it safe and go with 4GB cards (you could go 670 4GB SLI now and then get a 3rd later?)

4GB 670's will be within a small % FPS wise, but over £150 cheaper each so that would be nearly the cost of a 3rd 670-4GB card

TBH, I am well happy with my single 1080P 3D monitor and 680 but..........I know me and probably one day will go 3 monitors and this is where the 2GB would worry me. I know that current games are great on 2GB however future titles like Andy says may need more VRAM.

I do think though the GPU power will outweigh the VRAM though first. SLI or even 3 way SLI could be the way forward for the GPU grunt but maybe then the 2GB would prove a nuisance if you don't want to turn settings down.

This is just something that needs to be considered if you are planning on multi monitor set ups.

You will need a 3rd card for 3D i think, I just went form 7970's to 680's 4Gb.. they are much slower in BF3 but even with the lower fps its still smooth.. :s

What was you Heaven scores on your 680 4gb sli setup with no oc and standard bench settings. Would like to compare to check if I'm missing something, thanks

Were do I start,
used your settings to what i can tell are good results
1 x card OC ave frames 124.1 fps min 61 max 246 heaven score 3127.
found out why couldn't get cards to sli, there is a piece that has come off the top card and landed on the bottom one which is now dead as far as i can tell. Checked the card no signs of shorting or arc burns, blue screens after post saying remove faulty hardware

How did you do that?

It was the Jetstream badge that fell off,i'm presuming that what ever they used to stick to the shell couldn't stand the heat and it came away landing on the card below. Just started getting some decent results then this, hopefully i covered by the 28 day DOA where i got the cards from. Should be fun tomorrow when i take them both back.
