very good show and interesting
 
I like Sons of guns better, the main guy on American guns seems like a bit of a penis sometimes.

Both of them are absolute turd.

Seems like the "gunsmiths" on both shows have no idea, until the "owner" comes in to put them right, pointing out glaringly obvious problems that a child could spot. Couple that with pathetic gun safety, some fake explosions and the usual Discovery Channel reality show favourite - poorly edited shocked faces and scornful glances.

Oh, don't forget to pull a wad of cash out, and a lump of gold out of your back side to seal the deal.

I like gunsmoke, i just like it when they make the guns.

If you haven't seen wednesdays episode (and you care) then this may be a spoiler

I liked the custom barrett, i just think the craftsmanship that goes into the guns. i thought the fact he was willing to trade for a bike was cool as well. I was also very suprised that he was willing to splash out $500,000 on two old guns. Crazy.
 
Both SOG and Gunsmoke have proven "fakeness" added in for dramatic effect. In the SOG episode when a tooth was found jamming a gun the "owner" of the gun did an interview spilling the beans on the process of making a story up for the cameras. Turns out he's a friend of one of the employees and a dentist and the Owner of Red Jacket had heard about this tooth-in-a-gun story and they decided to copy it for TV and they used their friendly dentist as he could get hold of teeth easily.

I think or at least hope he means the daughters from both shows :p and of course they're full of special fx and made up stories but it's entertaining viewing either way.
 
Gunsmoke is still my favourite although sons of gun has a bigger work shop, due to women on gunsmoke being way more sexy and former police chef in gun smoke loves guns and loves to shoot em just like me. Get some!
 
Sons of Guns/Redjacket firearms is a disgrace - they're all just a bunch of redneck hillbillies.

American guns is much less awful :)
 
arekgreenman888 - It's just hyped up for the TV show matey, they didn't make the 1st of any of those things. There's been integrally suppressed AK's in Russia for over 30 years (the design is called a Reflex silencer rather than a true integral suppressor) and I have personally shot a suppressed single barrel .410 Shotgun quite a bit in the UK about 10 years ago. It's a TV show 1st and foremost with very little realism.

They do how ever make very good (if expensive) AR and Saiga range and their suppressors are genuinely world class. It's just a shame the show is over-hyped for the "drama". I do like the show it's just that I realise whats real and whats not when they talk about it (see my post above about the fake tooth-in-a-gun story)

The first season of SOG was reather good to be honest, but with each season you started to notice it got more and more scripted as time went on.

Pitty as I give up watching it in the end.
