Do you ever think this

Strangely I get ThatAsianGuy's point in the fact that we only know the names for things because we've been taught that is what they're called through out countless generations.

To use his point, how do we know that red is actually red ? The first person that called it red may have been colour-blind.

It's a mind-bender tbh.

btw dont they do colour blind tests at schools anymore?

i was told i was partially colour blind because some shades just look the same as colour X to me

Oh? I don't think it is at all. Photoshop's eyedropper tool has something to say about that! Also every colour is Global. Every nation around the World knows that Red is "Red" regardless of language. We're brought up that way because it is that way!

Wait, am I speaking English? Because maybe it's French and I only think it's English people that's what I grew up being told!

IS THIS MUMSENET? How do you know? It might say OcUK but it may well be mumsnet because the letters are all wrong in reality!

Can we end the thread on this bombshell? This has summed up the entire situation at hand rather well.

Red is Red no matter where you are in the world, and will evoke a similar feeling in everyone in the world who is able to clearly distinguish it.

That said, who is to say that images are not completely different from another persons point of view? There is huge philosophical controversy over this even in this day and age

I have always wondered how people come up with names for things, then associate a colour with the name, how did colours even come about.

What about when everything was black and white?

Hmm, even though I call it my head others may call it my foot.

The OP's point is not about what we name things, but about how we see them.

How do you know that everybody sees the same thing when looking at a certain colour? (the name of the colour is not important)

That the color red may seem red to you, but to the other person its a different color but they call it red?

Im just wandering that am i the only person that thinks this, it could be any color is well for e.g greem could be yellow to the other person but they call it green and you call it green because its green?

Yep. Same with all senses.

This how some people don't realise that they are colour blind I guess.
