Which of these hunting/outdoor knives should I get?

I need to replace my hunting knife because one of my friends essentially ruined the blade, it was a very strong and thick blade that was good for cutting wood. After a bit of looking around these have caught my eye:

Winchester Gerber 10" Ranger Hunting Knife - with Sheath £24.95

Mora Bushcraft Forest Knife £30.95

K.J. Ericksson Frosts Mora 2000 £30.95

Feel free to post any others that you would recommend, as you can see my budget is around the £30 mark.

*edit* Having looked at a few more Mora knives I think I am going to go for one of them, now just to pick one!
Help me pick one :D http://www.heinnie.com/prodtype.asp?CAT_ID=304

Thanks

I recently bought one of these;

It's an excellent knife, which I expect will serve me well for years to come.

It has a 5mm thick (very thick!) Stainless steel blade, hardened to Rockwell-C 57-58, full-length tang with a small amount poking out the back for cracking glass/rock etc.
Probably a far better choice than those cheaper blades.

I would split the money between a heavier knife like this Hultafors Heavy-Duty Bushcraft Knife for coarse jobs and a smaller knife or one that folded possibly a buck knife that you can keep sharper for fish and such and not have to punish the blade all the time on rough jobs.

Hi, sorry to steal your thread. I'm going to Corfu for 10 days on a last-minute club 18-30 tour.

Can anyone tell me what kind of SAM system i should pack? I was thinking shoulder launched but now im leaning towards a Radar guided platform variant with higher capacity so i dont become a victim.

Hmmmm, you've several options really.

If price is no problem, then I'd highly recommend a radar-guided fire and forget system, ideally with a magazine launcher such as the Rapier system.

If you're a little strapped for cash, don't forget the ever-reliable heat seeking missile, even the shoulder-launched SA-7 can give good results against most targets, it'll only really struggle against really modern systems such as the Apache.

Finally, if you want to spend more on beer but not be left feeling really vulnerable, pack something like the optically-guided Tiger Cat. The weather is pretty good on Corfu, so you should have line-of-sight to your targets nearly all the time, and all it takes it a good steady hand.

Hope that helps :)

Serious answer; you can't choose a knife without holding it yourself as the most important element of the knife is how it feels in your hands; does it feel comfortable and is it a nice weight for you. Seeing as everyone is different there isn't much point in anyone telling you what is better. Just head down to a store and try some out.
