I dont touch it unless i go on a bender and have a right skinfull , thankfully that leaves me so rotten i have no desire for another drink for a good while . I am a binge drinker i admit , But if you were to offer me a pint in a pub i would have a soft drink , having just one leaves me craving for another , and the displeasure of that feeling outways the enjoyment of that one drink .
But when im ready for a proper drink , A create or two needs to stand bye !

Confession time:

Too much, well over 29 units, and have been for many years now. I don't have a dependency, as I can easily go without, I just binge when I do.

I'm 31 in August, have a 2nd child due in November, my skin condition, health and bank balance are not as good as they should be, so I really need to give my self a good kick up the backside.

Got a lads weekend on the beer coming up in a couple of weeks, then I'm going to knock it on the head for.a bit.

/acceptance

Cheers,

FB..

0... I will sometimes and I do mean sometimes have a glass of wine with a meal on Friday or Saturday, but 99% of the time I dont drink

0. Had a few skinfulls in my time, but never really liked to 'drink' that much. Always thought it an expensive way to get a headache. Besides I drive, so don't risk any. I do like a decent whiskey for the taste, but could make 70cl last a couple of years.

Why would they be lying?

I'm sure a lot of people now enjoy a decent life without copious amounts of alcohol.

I actually enjoy a drink - I love wine, and a few spirits, and the occasional beer (mainly Guinness though). However, I just don't often drink - not because I'm making a statement or a point - just because I have different priorities to others, and I don't always get the opportunity to drink.

Nothing wrong with tee-totalling either, everyone has their own choice. I don't think I'd ever give up alcohol altogether, but I'd rather spend £100 towards a holiday, rather than on a night of drinking. :) That's not to say I don't enjoy a few boozy evenings, however, even if I do drink a few, I generally don't get off my face, I've only every been uber drunk a handful of times in my life, as I just don't find it pleasant. :)

I'm not saying there is anything wrong with being teetotal but 40% of those who have polled so far claiming they are, is a massive skew from a figure the ONS has from 2009 and HPA data I was looking at a couple of weeks ago which places the national average percentage somewhere between 15% and 17%

Figures do seem to indicate a trend in the increase of teetotalers but interestingly not as great among the middle classes and especially middle class women;)

**Edit: I should add that the estimated 15%-17% is adult population, god knows what the figure is for the yutes innit!

You can see who voted. :) However I doubt there are enough women on here to really make a huge difference.

Well bear in mind this forum is not typical of any ONS figures - look at the vote polls, money earning polls, education polls etc... We're a very skewed group of individuals vs general populace. :)

You are making an assumption that the members of this board are representative of the nation though. I suspect if you did a poll that asked how long you spend on a computer a week you'd also get a skewed result on here (of the opposite kind).

Aren't there quite a few under 18's on here as well (I know they shouldn't answer the poll but they maybe doing so anyway)

Why shouldn't they answer the poll?

I hardly ever drink but when I do I drink a lot. Normal week 0-4, week when I go out for a birthday/some other celebration anywhere between 10-20.

I know, binge drinking, don't lecture me! :p

0000000 - I rarely drink anymore. Surprising for a student but I've decided I don't particularly enjoy it. If I do it's only for the ease of a social situation at a pub or something.

Besides alcohol does bad things to people, very bad things.
