***Official Ivybridge Overclock Thread***

my 24/7 overclock I think is going to be 4.6

@ 1.275V (1.29 after LLC under load) - passed 6 hours of Prime Blend, and multiple runs of Linx - temps quite hot - up to 93C - but in normal usage max 70C

hi everyone, my 3770k on p8z77 v deluxe mobo works very god and stable at 4500mhz with only 1.185v vcore and 1.5v PLL, LLC ultra high.

i have corsair h70.

in linx, after one hour, it reaches 85-88c !!! with so low voltage-1.185 , this high temperatures?? i tried to remount cooler and i get the same temperatures!

what is the point??

is it possible that ivy bridge produce so much heat with only 1.185v??

i am dissapointed with cooling, because i think that my cpu is very good chip because with so low voltage it reaches 4.5ghz, isnt it???

i saw guys testing with 1.3v or more, but how? with which cooler?

Run Cpuid when you use linx and check what voltage is being applied to the cpu.

^^ those temps are slightly high but not unusual for after an hour of Linx

also don't forget with LLC on Ultra High your Vcore may drift up from 1.18V

you may find some use 1.3V but with lower LLC

for me, linx is the real test for stability and temps, not prime etc...

when my llc is on ultra high, when linx runs, in cpuz, my vcore is non stop 1.185v!!!

i have no vdrop in cpuz when i set llc to ultra high!

you suggest me to set in bios 1.3v and llc do regular or medium?

hi man, i am watching cpuid all the time when linx run, and my vcore is 1.185v all the time, as i set in bios exactly!!!

so, why to set higher vcore and llc lower??

Currently running prime 95 small fft's with the following

4600stable.jpg

4.6Ghz
CPU-Z reported voltage of 1.192v
Hottest core is 78 degrees

Looking ok so far?

Ignore my results like a complete noob I didn't have sp1 installed. AVX instructions destroyed my temps and stability too.

Sorry guys.

Why did you send it back?

Also, for warranty repair/replacement, they should pay the shipping... £37 seems excessive though... Can even get an h100 to Europe for £15!

Corsairs one of the best brands tbh. Just that closed loop water cooling fails in general.

Wasn't a failure, it was the infamous grinding noise from new. Made a terrible sound and then one fan went crazy and would only stay on full. Was only installed for 2 weeks before o couldn't stand the noise any longer. The stock Intel heatsink is a pleasure to use now, so quiet!

Postage was via Post Office, expense was due to weight. I will be complaining to Corsair about postage cost as it is a known issue with this product. Sadly many who have gone through RMA process have received replacements with same issue.

Next time try a company like www.interparcel.com - should save quite a bit :)

Thankfully for me, the noises from my h100 were just trapped bubbles and it went away after a couple of days.

I'm tempted to go for a full water loop... But don't want to take this gorgeous cooler off the gtx690... Argh, decisions!

So I ran IBT at 4.5Ghz just to experiment and it's interesting that it actually ran somewhat cooler than prime using AVX (by about 2-5C)

IBT temps:

prime95 temps:

I realise that the prime run was a bit short but the temps would have probably gone up by about 2-3C whilst running it a bit longer. Also the HWMonitor readings on the IBT are more likely to be correct than the realtemp readings for a constant temp range.
