If you're a graduate, can you fill in the information below?

University attended:
Name of degree course, is it an BSc or MSci etc:
Grade achieved, 1st, 2:1 etc:
Did you do an MSc:
If did MSc, what grade did you achieve:

How benificial is doing a 4 years degree over a 3 years

For those doing/applying for a BEng/BSc or MEng/MComp/MSci degree. What made you choose a 3 or 4 years degree?

For those in there 4th year or graduated, how does the work in the 4th year compared to the first 3 years?

Do you regret or glad you did a MEng/MComp/MSci degree instead of a BEng/BSc degree?

How beneficial is doing a 4 years course over 3 years?

I can't work out, if 4th years is beneficial then doing 3 years. On one hand, I think it's beneficial in that you learn more advanced material. On the other hand, if you can get a graduate job after 3 years, then what's the point in doing a 4th year?

In what order would you ranked the following Universities?

Out of interest, how would you ranked the following Universities from best to worse for computer science?

Imperial, Southampton, Bath, York, Loughborough, Sheffield, Surrey, Manchester, Kent and Reading.

Thanks

For those doing CS/applying for CS, what made you choose your University?

For those doing CS/applying for CS, what made you choose your University?

Which University are you currently studying at? or Which University have you or going to apply to?

What are the most important factors to you when choosing your University?

The league table ranking of the University?
The league table ranking of CS at the University?
Was it because you liked the University the most during the open day?
Was it the Course?
Was it because the University offer a placement?
Was it the Entry requirements?
The campus feel?
The quality of accommodation?
The location? Close to home etc?

Any other factors you took into consideration?

How common is it to get a job offer from work placement after graduation?

I was wondering, how common, people get a job offer from the place they did their placement after graduation?

I assume it would depend on the individual and the company they work for. I was thinking that they let you work for them for a year, and after you finish your placement. They are unlikely to employ you again?

'In what order would you rank...'

'How would you rank...'

I'd suggest getting someone else to proof read your application if you're going for any of the above. Well any of the above apart from Reading that is.

The 4 year degrees are usually incorporating a year out in a business/public institution where you gain certification in something essential to get employed in that sector.

For example, I'm in the exam period of my 2nd year in my degree which is the MbiomedSci program. This splits years 3 and 4 into a placement year where I spend the entire year in a hospital laboratory gaining experience and actually doing the job, whilst earning certification needed to get the actual jobs after graduating.

This is essential for me as no 3 year biomedical science degree ends up in a biomedical scientist job anymore and the figures for employability vastly favour the 4 year courses.

Overall the best Uni in the country last year was voted as Sheffield. Don't just think of a Uni as a place to go to study its about a load of other stuff. Manchester is a great Uni but the residences are in a really bad area.

Sheffield is the Uni to go to for overall experience. A city with a town feel, good nightlife if u want it and very nice accommodation if you just wana blast your Case fans all day. I only know a handful of people who have anything bad to say about Sheffield uni

The rest is debatable but for 'wow' factor imperial is easily the best from your choices.

Best

Bristol
Imperial
York
Manchester / Bath
Southampton / Loughborough
Sheffield / Surrey
Kent / Reading

Worst
