Is anybody else watching? It makes me quite ill. I still contest that the kind of people who make a concious decision to be so big should be financially penalised just like smokers and drinkers to help alleviate the strain on our helath care. In my eyes this is much more reckless than smoking 40 a day.

FLAME ME.

Are they not financially penalised given that they spend a lot more on food than me or you?
If not, how would you penalise them financially? Increase food cost? Would that not penalise me and you?

I don't think it is more reckless. Both are addictions and both are just as bad and I agree with none of them.

The money spent on the food doesn't go towards subsidising the eventual health care they will need for being such fatty fatties.

So they spend all of this money on food and then get free health care for the condition they've managed to get themselves in to.

This.

I think a burger could be more than 99p and a bag of oranges could be less than £1.99, and the extra cost placed on convenience food could be diverted to healthcare. I find it quite repulsive and in xx years they will be crawling to the NHS for a heart bypass/stomach staple/stent, when really all that money could be used for someone who didn't live a life of being a lazy, gluttonous git.

Well yes, but how would you penalise them financially?

Smokers pay a lot for fags
Drinkers pay a lot for alcohol
"Eaters" pay a lot for ???? The logical answer would be food. Can you think of another way?

You could tax fast food?

This Kit woman seems to be speaking some sense, it's good to see that she acknowledges that it isn't a safe/healthy lifestyle.

Don't tax food, just tax a set amount of £s over a set amount of lbs

Just becomes a problem for sports people etc.

Also.. Eww!

Does this not also penalise people like me who enjoy eating things like burgers yet have the frame of mind to also be active?

The difference between smokers/drinker and "eaters" is that you don't need to smoke or drink alcohol to survive... Everyone needs to eat

We also condone women getting breast implants and then cover the cost of their removal when it turns out it's dodgy, aren't the two things comparable?

Tis an idea. Who decides what is fast food?

I am not trying to be pedantic but with the government's track record of adding taxes to food (pasty tax), who's to say they dont add tax to a whole raft of things?

What you say I have also said before; tax the fat. I think some people got offended by this though :p fatties.

I wonder how much this snack would be taxed!
