Developing situation in Gibraltar between Royal Navy and Spanish Navy

Seems to be a come thread with Latino peoples these days. Trouble at home? Economy going down the ******? Divert the population's attention by antagonizing the Inglese! But not the Gringos, those ese's muy loco....

Edit: Also liking the design of those RN patrol vessels. From spec:"2 x stern mounted GPMG's"

"You crook you! Wait there while we turn round so we can shoot at you!"

is spain just doing what Argentina does and bringing up Falklands/Gibraltar to distract people from the many issues they are having? spains in no place to start a war, with their mass unemployment i would be surprised if they could even field and Arny,,,

Both groups of ships were equally as limp and couldn't do much more then pull ugly faces at each other.

We should never had scrapped warspite :(

not that they would be much use against eurofighters anyway

Well that's not my point (the chances of them ever being in a direct air engagement with a Euro Fighter is pretty remote anyway).

My comment was not to debate the Harriers effectiveness compared to other modern aircraft but simply an observation that these great iconic planes have been sold on to the US, which I feel is a shame.

The Spanish do a hell of a lot more policing of the line than the British authorities do which has to be factored in but I have to say I've never experienced this, but I know a lot of Spanish in the area dislike the arrangement.

RN fishery protection vessels have to ward them off in UK waters, it doesn't suprise me they play games elsewhere either. EU harmonisation working a treat!

The Spanish Navy should install glass bottoms in their boats. So they can see what happened to the old Spanish navy after it tried to fight the British. :D :D

This picture was just tweeted by that Journalist I keep linking to, showing a Guardia Civil ship
Three Guardia civil ships at the scene now according this Gibraltar journo

Wasnt there some trouble in the Irish Sea a couple of years ago when Spanish fishing boats were chugging about in Irish waters? I forget if it was illegal but the local fishing fleet were not happy and I seem to remember they got into a spat and a Royal Navy ship had to go in and break it up.

Funny how the micks get all uppity when people go into their waters... yet they come over here, sticking their caravans on our land... trying to tarmac our drives...
