There’s a lot of Union Flags (Jacks) around at the moments and it’s really annoying me how many are hung the wrong way.

Speaking to a few people I was surprised how many didn’t know that there was a correct way to hang it. As you can see it is not entirely symmetrical. You can rotate the flag and it still will be the right way up but you can't reverse it.

The broader (wider) diagonal white stripe should be at the top on the side of the flag nearest the flagpole.

If you're going to be pedantic about the flag then wait for someone special to come in here and tell you that it's only called a union jack when flying on a boat. ;)

Edit: there you go - two even as I was typing!

I think the main issue is when the flag is flown at half-mast. That can cause a big hoo-har.

Again being pedantic, one thing that bugs me is that people in recent years seem to call it the Union Flag, where I've always known it as the Union Jack.

I've shoot myself in the foot here haven't I...... but looking on the bright side there's others who will read this and learn something else about the Union Flag

Can't even edit the post title

This one of the two things i learned from Cub Scouts, the second is to dodge someone throwing a football at you.
