The Official Iron Man 3 Thread ere

I should really start looking into the comics as in every new film there are people who I have no idea who they are.

So Iron Patriot is actually Norman Osborn (aka The Green Goblin from Spiderman)?

Can't wait for this film !!!

Norman Osborn wears a full battlesuit patterned after the heroic images of Captain America and Iron Man. The battlesuit was cobbled together from StarkTech that had been confiscated from Tony Stark's armory at Avengers Tower shortly after H.A.M.M.E.R.'s formation. However, Osborn lacked the technical expertise on how to operate the armor's repulsor generators efficiently (replacing it with the not as powerful Uni-Beam projector star-shaped output), making it less powerful than Stark's Iron Man armors. It was hacked into and shut down for good by Iron Man at the end of the Seige of Asgard due to the armor based off an older design and has been not in use since.
During the Red Skull's invasion of America the armor was vaporized by Skadi.

only recently re-watched Iron man 2, not as good as 1 in my opinion, but this may be a film i want to see in the cinema, usually i just wait for DVD release

I don't buy that there will be any Civil War angle here. For starters a number of the characters aren't available (Osborn for starters is part of the Spiderman IP and hence isn't available to Marvel).

I'm still sticking to Kingsley playing the Mandarin and that they are going for the Extremis storyline. Much easier to translate to a single film than Civil War. I'll guess that the Iron Patriot stuff is a red herring.

It's weird putting the Iron Patriot in there when they're going for the Extremis storyline. Nevertheless, I liked Extremis A LOT, and this'll be a good build up for a new kind of Iron Man in the next Avengers film so it should be quite cool.

Plus I have a massive man crush on Shane Black so he better not mess this up.

EDIT: Having read the first showing link it does sound like this'll be a pretty cool film now.
Loads of Iron Man tech vs Iron Man himself? I'm sold.

Ben Kingsley has been confirmed to be playing the role of The Mandarin in Iron Man 3.

The veteran actor will take a supporting role behind Guy Pearce's main villain Aldrich Killian in the Marvel Studios sequel, reports Latino Review.

The Mandarin is said to be a "silent partner" in the formation of Killian's superpowered Extremis army.

It was also revealed this week that James Badge Dale, who was previously announced as the cyborg villain Coldblood, will also appear in the film at some point in the Iron Patriot armour.

The armour was used by Norman Osborn in the 'Dark Reign' and Siege storylines in Marvel Comics' titles, but the Spider-Man villain is unlikely to make an appearance in the film due to movie rights issues.

The first picture of James Badge Dale in costume on the set of Iron Man 3 has emerged.

The former 24 star plays Lt. Col. Eric Savin in the third instalment of the Marvel franchise. Savin starts out as The Iron Patriot, but eventually becomes the cyborg villain Coldblood.

In the image, Dale can be seen in red, white, and blue body armor that is partially covered by a large black cloth.

Iron Man 3 sees Robert Downey Jr return as Tony Stark. The film also stars Gwyneth Paltrow, Ben Kingsley, Guy Pearce and Rebecca Hall.

It was recently reported that Jon Favreau will make an appearance in Iron Man 3 as Happy Hogan despite handing over the director's reins to Shane Black.

Production on Iron Man 3 began earlier this month in Wilmington, North Carolina. The film is scheduled to hit theatres on May 3, 2013.
