Hello,

I am looking to buy and build my first gaming pc I have up to £1000 to spend I need everything like mouse, keyboard, dvd drive etc. I will buy the monitor my self. I will use this systems for gaming, some video editing and general use.

This is what i have put together so far.

I have a couple of questions:

1. Is everything compatible?
2.Will this be good to handle all games max settings?
3. Is it worth upgrading to i7?
4. Do I need to buy a cooler for the cpu since I wont be overclocking it?

1. yes
2. What res? For 1080p a 7850 is very good
3. Not really, for gaming (which is the main use?) there is little/no difference
4. The retail version comes with a stock cooler which is fine if you're not overclocking
(I recommend overclocking though!)

Made a few changes,

Thanks for the reply

Is the Sapphire HD 7850 better than the MSI HD 7850 Twin Frozr III OC? I've read that the MSI HD 7850 Twin Frozr III OC is quieter? or are they about the same?

I have no idea how to overclock do you benefit from overclocking when gaming?

There are plenty of guides and people to help with overclocking here.
It's quite straight forward, and can help with performance. Though that CPU is very fast as it is :)
If you wanted to try overclocking, you can go to ~4Ghz with the stock cooler. For higher overclocks, something like this:

I'm not sure if there's any difference in the coolers, I know the MSI is very good. Also they have 3 yrs warranty. So thats up to you. Performance wise, the MSI is a bit quicker, but both can be overclocked.

Why? Whats wrong with them are they reliable?
i can spend abit extra and get the Seagate Barracuda 2TB

I maybe being unfair here, but Hitachi has had a checkered history. Reliability is #1 in my book for HDDs, especially high capacity storage.

Saying that I have two Samsungs F3's, although very good and trouble free, and Samsung doesn't have a glorious past either. WD is recognised as the more reliable brand, followed by seagate (who had a nightmare with their 7200.11 series), and then the rest, but Samsung has acquired a very good reputation for a few years now, and Hitachi could just be the same. Everyone seem happy enough with the 7K1000 series.

with a SSD, The barracuda green would an option for that price. Hitachi will be faster.

Thanks this is what i have so far just a few stuff i want to keep

Hopefully i can order it sometime this weekend or next week :)

Looks good, this PSU is on offer at the moment (though may not be when you order)

Also, the MSI board I specced is a £10 cheaper, so consider that as theres little difference between them.

Finally, you want a retail blu ray player as it comes with software.

Thanks for the tip didn't know the blu ray player came with software saves me the trouble of finding the software to use it :)

Also i was looking at getting the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro rev 2. I get it free with my motherboard is it worth using ? or should i stick with the stock cooler?

If you get it free, yes use it!

If you were gunna buy one, there are better options now.

ok i will :)

will this system run without the graphics card for about a week or two?
planning on buying everything now expect the graphics card and the hard drive.

PS. I wont run any games and stuff until it arrives :)
