super powerful gun

There are lots of materials out there that can survive extreme pressure if use the traditional firing method. The barrel wont explode, maybe deform after a few shots. Who wants a gun that will only survive a few shots?

I can only imagine something like a sniper to use such a bullet. I would much rather to see laser beams be shot instead of a physical bullet tbh.

why dont they just make minature rocket engines and attach them to bullets.

or maybe its just to expensive and regular bullets are the best bang per buck

The recoil won't matter if you fire a second one in the opposite direction at the same time. Duh! :p

I just had an wonderful idea, probably too obvious that nobody has thought of it before. Instead of using regular gun powder inside bullets, why don't they use a little tiny bit of TNT or other HE inside the bullet as the propellent instead? Surely that would create a much higher velocity and hence more power (ft/lbs). I wonder if I might be able to sell this idea to the military?

Lots of time has been put into researching propellants in firearms - resulting in things like Cordite then WC844 etc...

If you're coming up with some solution that is obvious in a well researched area that you don't know too much about then its more likely that that obvious thing is something that can easily be dismissed than something which hasn't yet been considered by anyone before.

Can we not kill and grind Kwerk into some sort of bio-fuel so we can make use of him?

What is the point of all of these threads...

Energy density is what matters.
Smokeless powder, nitrocellulose a.k.a guncotton, is a high explosive when detonated with a primary.
Double base smokeless powder contains nitroglycerine, another HE and triple base powder contains nitroguandine also.

Using tungsten or uranium bullets would increase the firepower more than using some exotic propellant.

Because this isn't enough:

"The ballistics of the .950 JDJ is more similar to that of the 20mm autocannon round, which delivers approximately 39,500 ft·lbf (53,600 J). The muzzle energy of the .950 JDJ is comparable to the kinetic energy of a 2,800 lb (1,300 kg) automobile traveling at 20 mph (32 km/h)."

Here you go kerk, i've got a gun for you, all you need to do is put your bullets in it and give it a test fire.
