New Astra VXR gets 0-62mph time

Anything? :(

Ok, the VX220/turbo look like cracking cars but there's more lotus in there than GM, surely?

The monaro does nothing for me - I can appreciate it's appeal as a bonkers car but it's not my cup of chai I'm afraid.

Otherwise I'm struggling with vauxhall.

I suppose the lotus carlton was pretty epic.

I'm suprised really. Other than the enormous amount more power it's quite similar in concept to the E36 328i's you are rather fond of. If front engined rear drive coupes are not your cup of tea then you appear to own the wrong cars.

The problem is Vauxhall customers are used to getting a "deal". Getting them off that 'drug' is incredibly hard and will in many cases lead to a lower overall transaction price (i.e. if list prices were dropped, they would still expect the same discount). :(

this looks to be about it.

Some dealers were heavily discounting the Insignia VXR at launch. Speaking with one of the PR blokes on VXRonline, they'd rather the dealer didn't do it, but say they can't force the dealer to sell it at RRP.

Customers get used to "a deal" and thus dealers have to offer it to get a sale, thus in turn doing the owners in on resale value.

The list price of my diesel Astra Sri that i got from work was over £23k.

I don't think anyone has ever paid 23k for a diesel Astra SRI.
It also came with most of the things on that equipment list apart from Vxr badges and a shark fin aerial.
I know it's a diesel hatch and not a coupe, but the point is vauxhalls list prices should be completely ignored.

Sounds good.

Still not sold on it though. It looks so so similar to the megane coupe/VW scirocco it is ridiculous.

Doesn't really look that much like a Scirocco to me, more the Megan Coupe. The lights move it quite a bit away from the Scirocco, and from the 2nd picture in that Top Gear review it looks more like a Honda Civic than a Scirocco.

Then in picture 5 it looks like a Mazda from the back. Maybe they've just been a bit too indulgent in their copying of other designs. :p

Still, not a bad looking car and at least the review is positive.

EDIT: And speaking of stupid Vauxhall list prices, my company car is a previous-model Astra 1.7 ecoflex, Club model, with a £400 paint job (grey.... woo, I was exciting wasn't I) and that turned out to be £21k. No trip computer, **** stereo (no mp3 input) and they even seemed to scrimp on the soundproofing. £21k!

He can't. He's just saying to for the troll effect.

Vauxhall aren't any more unreliable than Ford, Renault or anyone really and the build quality of the MK6 Astra is just has good as it's rivals despite being uglier inside.

I remember gibbo had MK6 Astra as a rental car when his EVO went into Forge. it was pretty nice for a daily hack, interior was good imo. I just don't see them as very exciting.

It seems the VXR version fills the excitement gap quite well, a well rounded car. Good job Vauxhall, shame about the rest of the range.

Brand stigma takes a long time to shift, Vax built really nasty cars from 96ish - 08ish so you can understand why some people ignore how much better the new Astra and Insignia are.

Still a cheap and nasty unreliable Vauxhall...
Would prefer many other cars than this.

Apart from the fact it's not cheap........

And every Vauxhall ive owned/worked with ahs been entirely bullet proof and not prone to rot, unlike say fords, which seem to dissolve the second the perforation warrenty expires.
