Normally I would agree,but tried the cards in my other pc and its the same on that also.Also rebuilt this over the weekend when I swapped cases and did a clean install of everything, so I'm pretty certain its not that but open for any suggestions for things to check.

Cool thanks, I do have some sound damping material to install for my 700D case that I got from Casking (OCUK's german owners) but going to save install all that for a motherboard change when everything is outside the case

They seem to be in stock in some German etailers... via Geizhals if you search for it...

EDIT: **** sorry I just saw now that you guys are talking about the vanilla... I was looking at SC 4GB version... they are in stock everywhere... IGNORE :)

For those that are interested I did a couple of quick benchies at 6040 x 1080(bezel correction) in 3D surround using EVGA 670 SC 4gb cards in SLI,
OC used core +45 mem +475
122 power, voltage set to 11.75 to keep it constant

Crysis 2 Hi Res Textures (forgot whereabouts) apologies
Ultra min29 max47 not playable
Extreme min52 max61 bit laggy
settings below this very playable

BF3 no add ons, Campaign FIND KAFFAROV
Maxed out min14 max25 not playable
Auto min52 max65 not really playable IMHO as not fluid
Low settings gave over 90 so quite enjoyable.

I didn't include single monitor results as the cards could handle anything thrown at them.

So depending on your preferences you can make these two games very playable if you tone down the settings(state the obvious i know) on a 3D surround set up

Now for the main question Vram usage
Crysis maxed out 2341
BF3 maxed out 2376

Also ran Heaven on thread settings in 3D
Sli on 1 monitor 1920 x 1080 http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/855/00022r.jpg/
Now at 6040 x 1080 http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/99/00023i.jpg/

Can't seem to get a decent upload of the last one but result as follows
FPS 23.9 SCORE 602 MIN 13.6 MAX 63.4

So if i've done this right it looks like you'll need 3 cards to do this justice even though SLI'd cards can be used,as you can see both games maxed out used over 2gb of Vram.What I can't understand is the difference in vram usage changes very little between 2D and 3D surround presuming I didn't do something wrong is less than 70 mb.Could someone explain this please?:confused:
If i've missed anything constructive ripping only as still learning:)Just hope this benefits the people like me who play this res,thanks for reading this far.

VRAM usage isn't increased by playing in 3D.

I would say you can get by with one card,but there are people better and more qualified than me saying different.
Already tried SLI 680 Jetstream 4gb's results basically the same,so in all honesty probably get ASUS SLI 680 Direct CU TOP.As they seem to be great out the box and good air cooling,plus they can go under water(money permitting) as EK are doing blocks for them and possibly get a third for tri sli as Vram doesn't seem to play a major part as results show(turn Aero off and only BF3 sneeks past 2gb vram)

I actually had a third SC 4gb card but its gone to graphic heaven,was going to try future proofing but results prove against it:(

Damn mate you do have bad luck :( about to order one of those Korean 2560x1440 monitors, think will get sli EVGA 670 FW as they should be enough power and gpu for one monitor at that resolution with aero trick.

Yes been a tad unlucky with the cards,the good thing is i've been able to try a lot of different ones out so its given me a good idea of which way to go. I'll let you know as soon as i know,tried to get some more Tops cheap but as yet no luck (more bad luck)

:)Thought about what you said about faulty setup so had it checked out by someone else,so got it back today clean bill of health. So it looks like a bit of bad luck on the cards,been refunded on the returned as they were found to be faulty so atleast i'm ok on that front:cool:
