Hey guys, hoping for some advice regarding extenting wifi range.

Got Sky Unlimited broadban at the moment but only really getting cover on one level of the house.

Weve got for level in the house - Kitchen areas > Living rooms > Bedrooms > Attics

At moment router is the attic so only getting coverage in attics and a weaker connection in the bedrooms. Weve got phone lines on all 3 upper floor so could move router down to the living room area but then would loose connection in attics where i am.

Rooter is a SKY Sagems box. (if you need model number ill check)

My brother says we can get a extender of some sort but really have no clue. Any suggestions?

You need to enable WDS on the Sagem router and then get another router/access point that supports WDS to act as a repeater.

So will i need another Sagem router?

Like keep one in the attic connected to the phone line and one say in the living room connected to its phoneline?

More Access points is the best way. Put an access point on every other floor and run a cable from it back to the router.

You can get wireless to wireless bridging range extenders that use WDS but they'll reduce the available bandwidth on wireless, whereas more separate APs will increase it :)

Set the same network name, security level and password on them. Set the channel 5 channels appart from the neighbouring Access point. Job done, devices will roam between APs by themselves and no interference :)

OK did not understand a word of that :p Please simply what i need and what to connect

Access points?

Im guessing here but buy two more Sagem routers and connect them via ethernet to the main router which is connected to the phoneline.

So say main router is in the living room, install two more router in the bedroom floor and attic floor and wire them via ethernet to the main router?

Yes, sort of. How many additional routers you need depends on how well the coverage improves. I'd start with one extra see how it goes if you need more try another.

You dont' need more sagem routers, the router part is not used. You'll be connecting cables to the LAN ports.
Access points are devices like the router that just bridge wifi to wired, they don't have the hardware to connect to internet connections and thus are usually a bit cheaper. Brand is pretty irrelevant, so long as the wireless standards they use is the same.

I dont know dont like the idea of having to run an ethernet cable half way across the house.

Is there no way just to connect another router into the phoneline downstairs so have two routers connected to the phoneline.
