Hi
My PC has been freezing up quite a lot in the last copuple of weeks and basically I am going to upgrade mine and hopefully get my daughters PC up and running with a mixture of bits from her old pc and mine

however my pc keeps locking up and doing this in the picture

by looking at the picture could this be a Graphic card problem I have tried the monitor on a different PC and it works

I dont want to put a duff part in my daughters PC if I can resolve the issue now

the PC just stops dead in its tracks and I get the blue dotted lines as seen in the piccy

pressing the reset button gets it rebooting but the blue lines are still there all the way through windows loading then they dissapear when its loaded
20 minutes later the same thing over and over

I have reseated all the memory checked the card is in properly and checked the cables are all as should be

hard to put my finger on whats going on.. and I also downloaded the latest Nvidia drivers
thanks

not seeing a picture ?

could be memory problem on the card or possible heat issue, does the card look clean, not to much dust etc on it/in the fan system ?

The picture is showing up at my end and also on two different smart phones so not sure why you dont see it

no the card does have some dust on it... will take it out and give it a dust off

dont think it is a heat issue as its not overclocked and the case is here with no side panel on (at either side)

Looks like the video memory on that graphics card has seen better days, It's the video card for sure doing that, but I would test the PSU too, because a PSU on the way out can cause such strange things too. If you have more graphics power cables on that PSU try changing them to the ones you don't use as a test, incase one of the rails on the PSU is on the way out. What PSU do you have by the way and have you got another spare graphics socket to test the card in on that motherboard to test the GPU in and have you tried re-seating the card too ?

I see the picture fine BTW.

I reseated the card
PSU is an Enermax 550wt with very little hardware in my PC and its an old Video card

will really get into this at the weekend as I am going out very early in morning so will be in bed by 8pm
but will explore all options
I actually hope it is the graphic card as on my upgrade that I will be doing I am going to use the HD 4000 onboard graphics

gpu issue, if you have a spare try that and if the cards really old you could try oven baking the card, lots of 'How to's' on Youtube, it should bring it back to life.

It's happening at the BIOS bootstrap as you see on the image, so drivers have nothing to do with it.;)

Yeah I know, but in my old laptop once I installed windows and downloaded windows update which featured GPU driver this stuff started appearing in bios too... Re-installing windows and not installing GPU driver removed this issue... However had to live with very low resolution and blurry graphics untill I got that replaced.
