I've been a parent for over 10 years and I can't say I game more now than I did before. I guess this is a factor which could mean I don't get the upgrade urge much nowadays and I'm content with what I have PC wise.

IMO older players don't get targeted as much as younger people in adverts as they may have more money but they have some common sense and know that they don't need the newest GPU to play games....failing eyesite reduces the graphics quality anyway regardless of full 1080 screens :D

Do you play games less now you're a parent and has it affected your mindset on upgrading these days?

Obviously there are some on here that spend as much now on new gear AND they are a parent but they are in the minority when you look at all spreads of forum members on here.

less for me. but i work nights now and look after my 3 yr old during tbe day.

also i now live near a fantastic beach and i theres more to do here than when i lived in the UK.

I've found, the first few (4ish) years you game a lot less, but after that you seem to slowly work your way back to gaming much more like you did before kids.

I tend to find I play games to unwind from dealing with my kids, but maybe it is just me.

I game a lot less now i'm a parent, nothing to do with unwinding from dealing with my kid just spend more time with my wife than I used to I guess.

Much less than I used to but I'm starting to get into a happy medium of having 4-8 hours a week in the evenings when I get on the other TV.

Hardly ever game during the day as the kids are about, it's mostly when they are in bed, although I do get some all day time when my mother has them at hers for the weekend and the girlfriend works. :D

I reckon it's no less than when I first got with my wife. By the time I hit 18, had uni etc it all dropped off a lot anyway - apart from extended sessions on Knights of the Old Republic.

I still game a fair bit though and I have 2 kids. I've managed to complete Uncharted 3, Assassin's Creed Revelations and have racked up 40hrs on Kingdoms of Amalur since Christmas so I suppose I do alright!

Kids in bed for 7. Wife watches telly till 9, I game till 10/11. When wife is at classes, game from 8 till she returns. Probably 10hrs a week.

It's good now because my 6 year old likes Mario Kart and stuff now.

I usually just have a real hardcore friday night and then maybe an hour or so the odd day during the week.

A lack off good games stops gaming rather then baby but DayZ has helped with that, best game in years.

With the first i gamed more as i wasn't going out as much. She sleeps 7-7 so in the evenings i ended up gaming a fair bit when previously i would have been out.

I did find i changed to more casual type games which i could just pick up and play and played a lot more in xbox than the PC.

Second is nearly 3 months now and i don't have a spare minute to play anything. She's starting to go to bed earlier though and once she's 7-7 i think i'll get back into it. Still it'll be casual stuff for the next few years i would imagine.

I only game when they are asleep. Way too much going on when they're awake.

Gaming on the PC went completely out the window. It's not been upgraded in 5 years and it stutters if I even browse the PC games section on Amazon.

If I do game it's just a quick blast on the Xbox. Maybe an hour or two a week.

Only been a dad for 5 months but I have only gamed about 5 times since then (and for about 20 minutes).

Far more important things to do at the moment but once house has been sorted I intend on having an hour a week or so as it's currently my only hobby so never get the chance to unwind these days.

I game way less than I use to, I stopped upgrading the PC so that went out the window for games years ago before my daughter. I then used consoles to game on, and with daughter and wife I seem to have completely stopped gaming. When I do get chance, I just can't be bothered to, but if I do go on the PS3 the daughter will be there sat next to me watching, and holding a pad to think she's playing.

Can put Black Ops on and she hears the start theme and comes running in and has to sit next to me, wife says it gives her an hour of peace!
