I have a very basic root question. If I root my S3 can I remove the text from the stock icons or is there anyway of modifying the text without using a launcher?

I don't want to install another rom as I quite like the stock ICS but some of the names (Chrome browser beta) are so long they look stupid.

I'm using Omega 5.1 atm. Pretty happy with it.

Another mod I'm using is one that lets you use NFC without turning the screen on or without unlocking it. The screen off one isn't working for me atm (maybe because of something in omega) but it works great at the lockscreen. Makes using NFC slightly more efficient.

Use a launcher that has the option to remove text :)

Apex can do it.
 
I didn't think Google wallet was active in the UK yet? We have the contactless payment option at the the maccys here, but that is just for the new cards being rolled out surely?

Yeah it isnt out in the UK but you can get it working and add funds via the Modaco link.

Maccys and Greggs, time to get fat :D
 
I flashed my rom yesterday using Omega.
Now my camera doesn't work!

Not sure what the error is, but may format and start over
 
Don't think any of the current crop of stock rom's warrant upgrading to at the moment with it being so early in the game.

Look forward to seeing what developers can do (looking forward to Sensation rom!)

Defo worthwhile adding Intratechs collection on here if not for the stock rom's but for the stock kernals at least!

Did you factory reset after installing ROM?

Tried clearing DATA on the camera side of it?

Check XDA thread to see if there is ROM issue with the camera?
 
Thank God I've got it working!
I needed to flash the Siyah-s3-v1.1-CWM kernel and it worked!

So anyone who has that issue, just search the bold bit into google and you should be ok!
 
Dang it, wallet won't install on my S3 with omega 5.1 What are the other advantages of the nightly builds? Are they any good?
 
Deep, I think you have to update the kernal to 1.1 for camera to work.
